An open house celebrating the 50th wedding anniversary of Larry and Connie Connett will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, at the Ossian Church of the Nazarene. The event is open to any family, friends, and acquaintances.
Lawrence Edward Connett, the son of William and Dena Hammons Connett, and Constance Joan Brown, the daughter of Donald and Carolyn Richards Brown, were married Aug 12, 1972, at the Grace Baptist Church in Bluffton. They had met through Larry’s sister Patricia Connett, who was Connie’s friend in high school, and dated for about a year and a half before their marriage.
They are the parents of three children, Paula Carothers, Edward Connett, and Victoria Mason, and the couple has 10 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Larry has worked for Bill’s Roofing and Siding, which was started by his father, for the past 62 years and plans on retiring in 2024. Connie who was mainly a stay at home mom has also worked as a preschool teacher, nurse’s aide, and childcare provider; her last job was working at Subway in Ossian.
The couple currently lives on Ingle Drive in Ossian and have lived in the Ossian area most of their married life. They enjoy traveling together, going on vacations with their family, attending the grandchildren’s ballgames, and visiting relatives who live out of state. The celebrants are followers of God and thank him for the blessings he has granted them.
