Clark Kent Alspaugh, 60, of Decatur, passed away Monday morning, July 25, 2022, at Adams Memorial Hospital. His death followed an apparent heart attack he suffered while at work.
He was born April 15, 1962, in Decatur, to Heber Ed Alspaugh and the late Sally Imel Alspaugh. Clark was united in marriage to Machelle DeRoo Sept. 23, 1989, in Decatur.
He attended the New Hope Church in Decatur. Clark graduated from Norwell High School in 1981.He was employed at Fleetwood in the painting department for 38 years.
Clark loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He showed the love of Christ by volunteering at his church and assisting anyone else in need. In his “spare” time Clark was involved in the venture known as the Jim and Clark Handymen business.
As he aged along with Machelle they were blessed with four grandchildren. His grandchildren then became the center of his life as he enjoyed teaching them all the fun stuff in life. When able, he enjoyed fishing, along with classic muscle cars — especially Novas.
He is survived by his loving wife, Machelle Alspaugh of Decatur; two daughters, Brittney (Daniel) Killion of Decatur and Brenna (Nick) Dillion of Markle; hisfather, Heber Ed Alspaugh of Decatur; brother, Curt (Carla) Alspaugh of Craigville; three sisters, Collette (Jerry) Hurst, Colleen (Jim) Cole, and Claudine (Josh) Girard, all of Decatur; his mother-in-law, Jane DeRoo of Decatur; and four grandchildren, Naomi, Tyson, Laini Killion and Remington Dillion.
Clark was preceded in death by his mother, Sally Alspaugh.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 29, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur with Pastor Matt Moore officiating. Burial will follow at the Decatur Cemetery.
Friends and family will be received from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 28, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, and one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.
