John Deming, 75 of Fort Wayne, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw.

John was born on Sept. 22, 1946 in Minneapolis, Minn., to Gerald D. and Edith “Iva” (Hanson) Deming. He grew up in Bluffton and was a graduate of Bluffton High School with the class of 1964. 

John was very active in Boy Scouts and became a Scout Leader and earned the Order of the Arrow Award and was recognized as an Eagle Scout. He continued with the Boy Scouts and served as a Scout Master for many years.

He graduated from Midwest Tool & Die in Fort Wayne and worked at Franklin Electric as a manufacturing engineer. After moving to Warsaw, John worked for DePuy and retired after an extensive career with Biomet. In his retirement, he enjoyed applying his skill in his woodworking shop where John made beautiful furniture for his children and grandchildren. He loved spending time outdoors fishing and hunting with his family and working with his bird dogs. 

On Sept. 30, 1966 in Bluffton, John and Linda A. (Wolfcale) were married. They shared 55 years together.

Survivors include his wife Linda of Fort Wayne, children Kristina A. McComb of Fort Wayne, J. Paul (Julie) Deming of Syracuse and J. Scott Deming of Warsaw; along with five grandchildren; Ian, Melissa, J. Aaron, J. Andrew and Adam S. Deming.

John is also survived by two sisters; Judy (Don) Higgins of Fort Wayne and Joye (Bill) Gardenour of Bluffton.

He is preceded in death by his parents along with a brother, James “Jim” Deming and a sister, Jerilyn Sheets.

Visitation will be held for John from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at the Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton. 

Funeral Services will take place after visitation, at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at the funeral home with Pastor Chris Higgins, John’s nephew, officiating. A private family burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Bluffton.

Memorials may be made in John’s memory to the Michael J. Fox Foundation or Friends of the Ouabache State Park.
