Warren’s signature community event, the Salamonie Summer Festival, opens up Friday with the Samuel Jones Breakfast in the morning and the festival’s centerpiece parade in the evening.
This year marks the 55th edition of the festival.
The breakfast, at which community leaders will be honored, starts at 8 a.m. Friday and will beheld in the Knight-Bergman Center. The parade steps off through the heart of town at 7 p.m. Friday.
Another standard event of the festival is the Antique Tractor and Engine Show, which will be held on both Saturday and Sunday. Allis-Chalmers tractors are being featured this year.
Saturday will also include a kids’ tractor pedal pull, bingo, waterball fights, a flea market, and a touch-a-truck event.
Sunday’s events include a community worship service at 11 a.m. and fireworks at dusk at Tower Park. In case of rain, the fireworks will be postponed until July 9.
The festival concludes Monday with a volleyball tournament at Tower Park.
Bands performing during the festival include Heartstone Crossing on Friday, Attaboy on Saturday, and Rock of Elders on Sunday.
