City:

Monday, 5:02 p.m., Blufton Regional Medical Center parking lot. Caller reported while his wife at the hospital, someone stole $1,000 in cash from her van.

Monday, 6:37 p.m., residence in the 800 block of Greenlawn Avenue. Someone called 911 wanting to know what the phone number was for Pizza Hut.

Monday, 9:59 p.m., Praxis substance abuse treatment facility, 1529 W. Lancaster St. Officers requested for an uncooperative patient.

Monday, 10:46 p.m., 200 block of North Main Street. Detour sign blew into the street.

Tuesday, 1:49 p.m., Wells Community Swimming Pool, 310 W. Spring St. Female juvenile who had been banned from the pool was now at the pool. Officer responded. Girl left without incident.

 County:

Monday, 6:39 p.m., Silo Farms mobile home park. Report of two men fighting at one of the mobile homes. Sheriff’s deputies responded. One of the men had left before they arrived.

Monday, 7:35 p.m., residence on East Street in Craigville. Sheriff’s deputies, Bluffton Fire Department first responders and Wells County EMS were dispatched to the residence on a report of an unresponsive 62-year-old male. Wells County Coroner contacted.

Monday, 8:17 p.m., residence on Marzane Road on the north side of Markle. Theft of several items— such as law edging — that were located outside of the residence.

Monday, 10:52 p.m., 1050N at Ind. 1. Small tree blow down into the road.

Monday, 10:55 p.m., 1100N west of the railroad crossing. Tree blown down and pulled down a power line, breaking a power pole. REMC contacted. Wells County Highway Department contacted to remove the tree from the road.

Monday, 10:58 p.m., 300N east of 450E. Tree blow down and pulled down power lines and a power pole. Wires in the tree ignited the tree on fire. Bluffton Fire Department dispatched and Bluffton Utilities contacted. Fire was out by 11:42 p.m.

Monday, 11:19 p.m., road closed signs for Ind. 124 blew down at both the 600E intersection and the Ind. 301 intersection. Sheriff’s deputy set both signs back up.

Tuesday, 12:59 a.m., 900N west of 450E. Large tree blow down into the road, pulled down REMC electrical lines and snapped a power pole.

Tuesday, 1:29 a.m., 600E near 1100N. Tree blow down into the roadway, dragging down REMC power lines.

Tuesday, 6:47 a.m., Ind. 1 south of the Allen County line. Cable television line blown down into the road.

Monday, 10:55 p.m., Lynn’s Lane at LaFever Street. Power lines down.

Monday, 11:31 p.m., 300 block of Morton Lane. Power lines down.

ACCIDENTS

City:

Monday, 12:53 p.m., Wabash Street at Main Street. Wyatt A. Girod, 18, Bluffton, was driving a 2014 Ford Fusion south on Main Street. He stopped for a red light and was hit from behind by a 2008 Dodge Avenger driven by Taylor R. McLelland, 21, Bluffton. McLelland then reportedly left the scene of the crash. Damage exceeded $1,000.

Tuesday, exact time unknown, Bluffton Regional Medical Center north parking lot, 303 S. Main St. A parked 2013 Chevrolet Malibu, registered to Judith M. Isch, rural Bluffton, was hit by a hit-and-run driver. Damage exceeded $1,000.

FIRE RUNS

Monday, 10:39 p.m., report of a structure fire in the 300 block of West Mill Street, Ossian. Ossian Fire Department dispatched. There was no fire. Electric lines were arcing due to the derecho roaring through town.

Monday, 9:18 a.m., Linda Smith residence, 900 Heatherwood Lane in the Country Meadows addition, Ossian. Caller reported all smoke detectors sounding in the house, but there was no smoke. Ossian Fire Department dispatched. detectors had malfunctioned.

Tuesday, 12:20 p.m., Tower Life Center, 11811N. Wayne St., Zanesville. Fire alarm. Southwest Fire District dispatched. False alarm.

Carlos Edward Slater, 43, Bluffton; probation violation. No bond set.
