The Well County Council signed off on several tax abatement compliance forms this week for two companies.
Heartland REMC continues to work on its broadband infrastructure for fiber internet in the northern part of Wells County. The total cost of the project, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2023, is $10 million just for Wells County.
Wells County Economic Development Director Chad Kline presented all the documents Tuesday and noted the company is currently building up its Uniondale substation, which is the cooperative’s largest in the county. Infrastructure continues to be built in county, Kline added.
Haven Manufacturing of Ossian also had a collection of compliance documents up for approval, which the council did unanimously.
On the latest abatement from 2021, the number of employees was listed at 36 with total salaries topping $1.38 million. Kline said the workload is increasing now following a slow-down during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. New customers have come on board for the medical equipment manufacturer.
