MARION – Three track and field athletes from Wells County placed in their events at the Marion Regional meet on Tuesday at Indiana Wesleyan University.
Bluffton’s Lauren Reiff placed fourth in discus with a throw of 124 feet 10 inches.
Reiff’s teammate, Leslie Sprankles, finished sixth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:22.04.
Norwell’s Claire Bailey finished eighth in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 47.77.
The top three finishers in each event move on to next week’s state meet at Indiana University, along with those that meet the state standard.
Northrop placed first in the team standings with 82 points, followed by Carroll with 73, Homestead with 63, Huntington North with 49, and New Haven with 33.
Bailey finished 11th in the 100 meter hurdle prelims with a time of 16.64.
Her teammate Makenzie Fuess finished 15th in the 400 meter run with a time of 1:05.14. Another Lady Knight, Makenzee Kahn, finished 14th in the 1,600 meter run with a time of 5:57.02.
Norwell’s 4×800 relay placed 10th with a time of 10:24.42 and its 4×400 placed 16th with a time of 4:32.54.
Southern Wells’ Sydney McFarren finished behind Kahn in the 1,600 at 15th with a time of 5:58.36 and also finished 15th in the 3,200 meter run with a time of 13:24.39.
Fellow Lady Raider, Brooke Tonner, placed 11th in high jump, clearing 5 feet.
