INCIDENTS

City:

Tuesday, 9:32 p.m., parking lot of Kendall Electric, 227 W. Wabash St. Caller reported she had been pushed down by a woman at a residence in the 300 block of West Miller Street and had walked to the parking lot to call police. Officers responded. Information taken for a report.

Tuesday, 11:08 p.m., parking lot of First Church of the Nazarene, 1515 Clark Ave. While patrolling nearby a sheriff’s deputy heard two women shouting. The deputy drove his patrol vehicle closer and could see that the women were shouting at each other. The two women, who were married to each other, were arguing loudly. The couple reportedly explained they were homeless and living out of their car. During the argument, one of the women threatened to smash the other woman’s jewelry box on the parking lot pavement. The other woman then took the jewelry box and smashed it herself. The deputy managed to calm the two down. They cleaned up the broken jewelry box and left.

Tuesday, 11:47 p.m., parking lot of the Elks Lodge, 213 S. Main St. Report of a woman walking around in the parking lot and wearing no shoes. Officer responded. Discovered she was a walk-away from the Praxis substance abuse treatment facility on West Lancaster Street. Praxis employees picked her up and took her back.

Wednesday, 1:53 a.m., Praxis substance abuse treatment facility, 1529 W. Lancaster St. Officers, Bluffton Fire Department first responders and Wells County EMS responded on a report of a female patient suffering from seizures.

Wednesday, 4:48 a.m., Airplane Express and Service, 407 N. Main St. Report of a man vomiting and large amount of blood coming from his face. Officers, Bluffton Fire Department first responders and Wells County EMS were dispatched.

Wednesday, 6:09 a.m., Pine Grove apartments. Loud verbal altercation between a man and a woman. Officers responded. Male half left before officers arrived.

Wednesday, 10:18 a.m., residence on North Oak Street Extended. Officers responded to a report of a juvenile male fighting with his mother.

Wednesday, 7:04 a.m., residence on Northeast Smuts Street in Zanesville. Report of an altercation between an estranged husband and wife. Sheriff’s deputies responded. The woman claimed that she had been grabbed and pulled to the ground by her husband. Nathan Edward Billman, 49, Zanesville, was charged with domestic battery. Bond was set at $25,000. Angela Marie Billman, 41, Zanesville, was charged with possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor. Angela Billman was charged after Nathan Billman requested that their residence be searched for illegal substances because he reportedly told the deputies his wife uses marijuana. The search of the residence allegedly turned up a small glass jar containing a green leafy substance with the odor and appearance of marijuana, multiple “roaches” — a slang term for a marijuana cigarettes and vaping cartridges marked as a THC product. THC is the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana. As she was being detained Angela Billman allegedly handed the arresting deputy a vape pen that contained a liquid form of THC.

Wednesday, 6:32 a.m., residence in the 600 block of North Metts Street. Loud verbal altercation between two people. Officer responded. Situation calmed.

ACCIDENTS

City:

Monday, 9:11 p.m., Main Street at Sutton Circle.Melissa A. Clark, 49, Bluffton, hit a deer with her northbound 2016 Buick Encore. The impact propelled the deer into the oncoming lane of traffic where it was hit again by a southbound 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan driven by Patsy J. Ray, 59, Bluffton. Total damage to the vehicles exceeded $5,000.

Tuesday, 4:59 a.m., Rita J. Davis, 59, rural Poneto, was driving a 2010 Dodge Ram pickup truck north on 100W when the truck sustained a complete electrical failure. The lights stopped working, the truck came to a standstill in the middle of the northbound lane. Davis saw a vehicle approaching from behind her and tried to warn the driver of that vehicle with flashlight on her cellphone. However, a southbound vehicle with its bright headlights on made it so that Aaron C. Jones, 48, rural Montpelier, could not see the stopped pickup truck until it was too late. Jones’ 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt slammed into the back of the pickup truck propelling it forward about 15 yards before it stopped. No one was injured. Damage exceeded $5,000.

Wednesday, 4:23 a.m., Ind. 218 near 300W. Ashley L. Zoda, 31, Bluffton, hit a deer with her 2019 Nissan Altima. Damage to the car exceeded $5,000.

FIRE RUNS

Wednesday, 7:09 a.m., 940 Ranch Road residence of Rodger and Susan Popplewell. Carbon monoxide detector sounding. Bluffton Fire Department dispatched. While the fire department’s gas meter did not register the presence of carbon monoxide, it did discover a natural gas leak in the utility closet. The gas was turned off to both the furnace and water heater and the house was aired out.

Wednesday, 12:09 p.m., 6180N-200W residence of Luis Ortiz. Alarm company reported an activated fire alarm in the residence. Markle and Uniondale fire departments responded. No sign of a fire or smoke was found.

ARRESTS

Jamie Marie Brown, 32, Bluffton; contempt of court on a civil matter. Bond set at $500.

Latwan Nadaniel Wedlow, 24, Fort Wayne; operating a motor vehicle without ever having received a driver’s license, a Class C misdemeanor. Released on his own recognizance.

TICKETS

Jada R. White, 23, Fort Wayne; 67 mph-55 zone, 100E north of Lancaster Street.

McKenzie F. Huffman, 22, rural Warren; 50 mph-35 zone, Clark Avenue at Greenfield Drive.
