Monday, 6:30 p.m. Someone took a shopping cart from Walmart and abandoned it in front of First Choice Realty in the 800 block of North Main Street.
Monday, 11:53 a.m., residence in the 200 block of East Cherry Street. Someone vandalized the front door of the residence with window paint.
County:
Monday, 12:33 p.m., report of a man staggering in the roadway on River Road. Sheriff’s deputy caught up with the man on Ind. 116 on the bridge near Six Mile Cemetery and took him to his nearby residence. The deputy observed that the man was “very intoxicated.”
Tuesday, 6:11 a.m., residence on 800N east of Meridian Road. Burglar alarm. Sheriff’s deputy responded. Alarm accidentally tripped.
Tuesday, 6:41 a.m., sheriff’s deputy spotted a semi trying to enter the exit only drive at the Peyton’s Northern Warehouse, 1111 S. Adams St. The deputy assisted the driver by trying to guide him the short distance the semi bullpen at Peyton’s, but the driver dropped off the edge of the road, causing both Adams Street and Western Avenue to be blocked. The yard goat was brought out from Peyton’s and managed to push the semi back onto the road and the deputy escorted the semi to his destination.
Ossian:
Tuesday, 2:38 p.m., 100 block of North Jefferson Street. Caller reported that the driver’s side headlight of his 2008 Dodge Dakota pickup truck had been damaged.
ACCIDENTS
City:
Monday, 11:41 a.m., Super Wash, 1704 N. Main St. Pauline Haines, 79, Bluffton, was in line at the car wash when her 2008 Buick Enclave moved forward and struck a 2010 Dodge Charger police car driven by Bluffton Police Chief Kyle Randall, 46, Bluffton, as Randall was also waiting in line to get the car washed. Damage was estimated at less than $1,000. The accident was investigated by a Wells County Deputy Sheriff.
Monday, 5:10 p.m., Main Street just north of Arrowhead Trail. A 2016 Jeep Patriot, driven by Allison R. Blevins, 24, rural Poneto, hit a 2015 Nissan Altima, driven by Ashley R. Frewer, 31, Decatur, from behind, as Frewer’s Altima was stopped in a line of traffic. Damage exceeded $2,500.
County:
Monday, 6:20 a.m., 100E south of 1000N. Douglas Dafforn, 60, rural Yoder was driving a 1996 Freightliner grain semi south on 100E. Lori A. Bauermeister, 51, rural Bluffton, was driving a 2013 International school bus north on 100E. The driver’s side view mirrors of the two vehicles clipped each other, breaking the mirrors. Dafforn told the investigating deputy that Bauermeister was across the center line and Bauermeister told the deputy Dafforn was the one across the center line. Bauermeister reported the accident while Dafforn continued to drive south and was pulled over by the investigating sheriff’s deputy further south on 100E. Damage was estimated at less than $1,000.
Ossian:
Tuesday, 6:45 a.m., South Jefferson Street near Craig Street. Mark A. Tschannen, 53, Fort Wayne, was driving 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan registered to A-1 Limo and Taxi, Fort Wayne, north on Jefferson Street when he heard something pop and then he lost control of the steering of the van, veered off the street and slammed into a parked 2012 Chevrolet Malibu registered to Russell L. Sponseller, Ossian. Damage exceeded $5,000.
ARRESTS
Brandon James Rainey, 26, Bluffton; two counts of theft with a prior conviction for the same or a similar offense, both Level 6 felonies, and driving while suspended with a prior conviction for the same offense, a Class A misdemeanor. Bond set at $11,500.
Misty Michelle Kirtz, 41, Paulding, Ohio; failure to appear in court, a Class A misdemeanor. Bond set at $1,500.
Brook L. Jupin, 45, Marion; theft wherein the value of the item stolen is between $750 and $50,000, a Level 6 felony. Bond set at $5,000.
