Back to orange.
Wells County is one of 36 counties in Indiana to be listed as orange in regard to COVID-19 because it had a 2-metric score of 2 as of Wednesday afternoon.
There are four levels of COVID-19 in the rankings by the Indiana Department of Health, and the state lists 52 counties in the highest category of red, 36 in orange, and four in yellow. No counties are listed in blue.
Blue indicates a 2-metric score of 0-0.5; yellow, 1-1.5; orange, 2-2.5; and red, 3 and over.
According to the statistics posted on the IDOH website, Wells has 173 cases per 100,000 residents (for statistical purposes) and had a seven-day all tests positivity rate of 12.31, which is a decline over recent weeks.
The map for the 11 counties in District 3 — northeast Indiana — shows all three active color categories — two yellow, six orange, and three red.
Statewide, two yellow counties adjoin each other in northwest Indiana (Lake and Jasper) and the other two, as noted by the accompanying map (LaGrange and Adams) are in northeast Indiana.
Most of the orange counties are in the northern part of the state, with most of the red counties in the southern part of the state.
