The snow has come, and you can start to build your best snow creations for our snowman building contest! Submit a photo of your best snowman sometime between now and Feb. 13 to the Bluffton Parks Department by emailing it to events@blufftonindiana.gov.

Voting will then take place on the Bluffton Parks Department Facebook page between Feb. 14 and Feb. 18. The snowman photo with the most votes (“likes”) will win a prize! This competition is open to all ages! The winner will be announced on Feb. 18.

If you enter this contest, you must be willing to pick up your prize from the Bluffton Parks Department office at City Hall. We can’t wait to see all of your artistic snow creations!

“Snowmageddon” ended up canceling our special toddler time event on Thursday, so we will make sure next month’s tot time is extra fun!  Join us at 11 a.m. March 3 in the Bluffton City Gym for some St. Patrick’s Day crafts and a chocolate coin hunt.

This will be our last toddler time special event for the winter, but the gym will continue to be open for regular toddler time from 11 a.m. to  noon every Tuesday and Thursday through March 31.

Winter is a great time to stay inside and enjoy a movie.  Adults are invited to join us at the next Theater Thursday at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb 17, in the Bluffton branch of the Wells County Public Library.  We will be showing the movie “Finding You” (2020), about violinist Finley Sinclair who travels to an Irish coastal village to begin her semester studying abroad. At the bed-and-breakfast run by her host family, she encounters Beckett Rush, a handsome actor who’s filming another installment of his medieval movie franchise. As romance sparks between the unlikely pair, Beckett ignites a journey of discovery for Finley — transforming her heart, her music, and her outlook on life.

Free snacks are provided.

The Bluffton Parks Department is now accepting applications for summer employment for ages 15 and up.  We are looking to hire concession workers, lifeguards, maintenance workers, tennis instructors, and managers.

Applications can be found in the Clerk Treasurer’s office at City Hall or online at https://blufftonindiana.net/data/uploads/2021/12/Summer-Job-Application-2022.pdf

Sandy Koufax tryouts for players age 13 and 14 will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, at Camp King Baseball, 3550 S. Ind. 1.  Participants will need to bring a glove, bat, and helmet. If you have any questions, call Rick King at 260-273-0460.

Speaking of baseball, summer leagues and swim teams interested in using Bluffton Parks Department facilities are invited to the next Park Board meeting in City Hall at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 3, to make your requests.

Don’t forget that the City Gym is open every weekday from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. for anyone who wants to walk inside. We have more  than 200 people who signed up to do the 100-mile challenge, and we don’t want this winter weather to get you sidetracked.

If you haven’t already picked up the shirt you ordered for the winter challenge, they are outside our office on the second floor of City Hall.
