Patricia “Pat” L. Higgins, 96, of Bluffton, passed away Thursday evening, Sept. 24, 2026, at the Waters of Dunkirk nursing home.
Pat was born in Fort Wayne on Oct. 23, 1929, to Homer L. and Mary (Grissell) Ifer. She married James “Jim” H. Higgins in Bluffton on Oct. 2, 1949. He preceded her in death on July 24, 2003.
A 1947 graduate of Petroleum High School, Pat was a member of Petroleum Community Church. She worked for Southern Wells School Corporation for 13 years and later retired from Old First National Bank in Bluffton after 16 years of service. Following retirement, she volunteered at Bluffton Regional Medical Center for 17 more years.
In their retirement years, Pat and Jim spent their winter months in Tucson, Arizona. They enjoyed many trips across the country in their RV and also enjoyed attending Morgan horse shows.
Pat is survived by her daughter, Connie Sue Hose of Dunkirk; a grandson, James Travis (Kristan) Higgins; a granddaughter, Kara Brooke Hose; a great-granddaughter, Madeline Marie Higgins; and her daughter-in-law, Vicki Higgins.
In addition to her parents and husband, Pat was preceded in death by her son, James Michael Higgins.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., at Bethel Cemetery, 4500 E. 300 S. Bluffton, IN, with Pastor Greg Andrews officiating.
