Rodney Eugene Mossburg, 74, of Liberty Center, passed away Thursday, Aug. 6, 2026, at his home.

Rod was born on March 4, 1952, in Wells County to Robert Eugene and Francis Marie (Macklin) Mossburg. He graduated from Southern Wells High School in 1970 and then served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam. After his service, Rod worked for Corning Glass and Strict Corp. He was a member of the American Legion.

On June 1, 1974, Rod and Deborah Ann Thompson were married at Liberty Center Baptist Church. They have shared 52 years of marriage.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah Mossburg of Liberty Center; children, Christopher (Brenda) Mossburg of Tennessee and April (Kayla) Mossburg of Fort Wayne; along with four grandchildren, Cori Mossburg, Caitlyn Ulmer, Zoe Mossburg and Sophia Mossburg.

Rod is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Francis Mossburg; a daughter, Anna Mossburg; and siblings, Randy Mossburg, Cindy Richardson, Sharon Mossburg, Mark Mossburg and John Mossburg.

Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2026, at the Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton with Pastor Aaron Westfall officiating.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 10, 2026, at the funeral home, and for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

Memorials may be made to Tunnels to Towers and directed through the funeral home.
