Max E. Daniels, 93, of Ossian, passed away Sunday morning, Aug. 2, 2026, at Ossian Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Max was born in Bluffton on Jan. 13, 1933, to Carl and Martha (Heller) Daniels.  Both parents preceded him in death.  He married Alice “Jean” Gerwig in Liberty Center on Dec. 18, 1965; she survives.

A 1950 graduate of Bluffton High School, Max served in the United States Air Force from 1952 until 1956.  Early in his career he worked in the mortgage industry and later started his own real estate company, which he worked as an appraiser along with operating the company for many years until retirement.  After retirement Max, along with his wife Jean, spent the winter months with their daughter and son-in-law in Texas.

Max was a member of the American Legion Post 111 in Bluffton for 73 years and was a long-time member of the Bluffton Elks Lodge #796.  For most of his career, Max also belonged to the Indiana Association of Realtors.  He loved I.U. basketball and was an avid golfer.

In addition to his wife, Max is survived by a daughter, Connie (Frank) Greider of Houston, Texas.

In accordance with Max’s wishes, there are no public services being held.  Private burial will be held at Mossburg Cemetery in Wells County.
