L. Evalee Garrison, 98, of Montpelier, passed away at 7:02 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at her home.
She was born on Friday, July 6, 1928, in Devonia, Tennessee, to the late Richard L. and Artensie (Anderson) Phillips.
She married George G. Garrison on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 1951, and together built a life centered on love and family. Evalee was a graduate of Redkey High School. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Montpelier, and was baptized at the Corinth Baptist Church in Smokey Junction, Tennessee. In her early years, Evalee worked for Armstrong Glass in Dunkirk. She was the heart of the home and a devoted homemaker. Evalee enjoyed crocheting, canning, traveling, making quilts and reading. She was a loving mother and grandmother who was always there for her family.
She will forever be missed by her children, Mike (Janet) Garrison of Indianapolis, Terri (Jerry) Jordan of Montpelier, Mark Garrison of Gaston, Kristy (Mike) Daniels of Pennville, Treva Edmonds of Montpelier and Tracey Garrison of Montpelier; 20 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard L and Artensie (Anderson) Phillips; husband, George G. Garrison; daughter, Kim Penrod; daughter-in-law, Penny Denney; brothers, Robert, Herbert, Haskiel, Thomas, Roland, Richard Glen, Chester and Larry Phillips; sisters, Louise Garrison and Eileen Stanley; and grandchildren, Jennifer and John Penrod.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2026, and one hour prior to services on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home, located at 109 W. Windsor St. in Montpelier.
A service to celebrate her life will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Montpelier.
