Timothy “Tim” R. Oswalt, 68, of Bluffton, passed away Monday evening, Jan. 12, 2026, at his residence.

Tim was born in Bluffton on Aug. 21, 1957, to Gustin E. and Doris J. (Shaw) Oswalt. Both parents preceded him in death, including his step-father, Harold McFarren.

Tim graduated from Bluffton High School in 1976 and retired from O & R Precision Grinding after over 30 years of service, where he served in various roles. He was a member of the Bluffton Elks Lodge 796 and enjoyed golfing and coaching summer softball rec leagues when his daughters were growing up. Tim was an avid Indiana University and Indianapolis Colts fan, but most of all loved his grandkids and attending all of their activities.

Survivors include two daughters, Brooke (Benjamin) Lyon of St. John, Indiana, and Rhiannon Oswalt of Bluffton; four grandchildren, Jaxon and Carter Lyon and Laney and Gavin Sawyer; four sisters, Rose (Dan) Anderson, Carolyn (Tom) Mechling, Marolyn (Calvin) Roth, and Vickie (Larry) Boots, all of Bluffton; a step-sister, Sharon (Richard) Abbott of Bluffton; and a step-brother, Jack McFarren of Bluffton.

In addition to his parents and step-father, Tim was preceded in death by a grandson, Evan Sawyer.

Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026, from 2 until 8 p.m., at Goodwin – Harnish Funeral Home in Bluffton, followed by an Elks Memorial Service at 8 p.m. Services will be held Friday, Jan. 16, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., at the funeral home, with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Barry Crosbie will officiate. Burial will follow at Stahl Cemetery in Wells County.
