
Carol Joan “Jo” (Rupert) Wyatt, 83, of Ossian, passed away Friday, Dec. 5, 2025, at Heritage Pointe of Warren.
She was born on Jan. 8, 1942, in Decatur, the daughter of Glen A. “Pete” Rupert and Wilda P. (Riley) Rupert. Jo was united in marriage to Raymond D. Wyatt on Nov. 24, 1976, in Fort Wayne. They were blessed with 49 years of marriage.
Jo loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed traveling, flowers, her beloved cat Princess and shopping for special gifts for family and friends. She had a big heart and also a knack for searching out the best deals on quality items.
Jo was a 1960 graduate of Adams Central High School. She was a devoted homemaker and also was employed over the years at Coppess Corner, Lincoln Life Insurance Company, K-Mart and Dodge McGraw Hill. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Fort Wayne.
Surviving are her husband, Raymond D. Wyatt of Ossian; daughter, Denise (Kevin) Ensign of Roanoke; stepdaughters, Ronda Price of Fort Wayne and Terri (Brian) Edmonds of Fort Wayne; stepson, Michael R. (Jean) Wyatt of Granby, Colorado; sisters, Shirley (Gene)Hurst of Decatur, Gloria (Bill) Kohli of Fort Wayne and Deborah (Tim) Agler of Fort Wayne; 12 grandchildren, Austin (Jessica) Ensign, Shane (Amanda) Ensign, Courtney (Nick) Wallace, Jessica Wyatt, Paige Price, RaeAnne Gilley, Kimberly (Tony) Everson, Randy Gilley, Amy (Kevin) McCullough, Beka Middleton, Kode Wyatt and Dustin Wyatt; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Richard Allen Rupert; her sister, Pauline Kolter; and her favorite aunt, Ruth Brown.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2025, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, Indiana, with Pastor Brent Doster and Chaplain John Moyer officiating. Burial will take place at Ray Cemetery in Monroe, Indiana, at a later date.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2025, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, Indiana, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Joan generously supported many charities. Preferred memorials can be made in Jo’s honor to the donor’s choice.
