
Daniel K. “Dan” Baumgardner, 85, of Ossian passed away on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2024.
He was born on April 15, 1939, in Bluffton, a son of the late Kenneth E. and Mildred N. (McGough) Baumgardner. Dan graduated from Ossian High School, Ball State Teachers College, and earned his Masters degree from St. Francis College. He worked as a teacher and drivers training instructor for 33 years before retiring. After retirement, he spent 10 years driving a tour bus. He was a member of New Haven Church of Christ, New Haven, Indiana. In his free time, he enjoyed politics, reading, and supporting the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs.
Surviving family include his wife, Fran Baumgardner; daughters, Tonya Johnson and Carla (Daniel) Springer; son, Ted (Chris) Baumgardner; grandchildren, Erich, Rachel, Blaine, and Brett Johnson, Shanna (Luke) Clark, Ian (Maddie), Heather, and Eli Baumgardner, Emily (Landon) Sands, Abigail (Nate) Mayer, and Evan (Reese) Springer; six great grandchildren; sister, Marlene Boxell; and brother, Max Baumgardner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in passing by his siblings, Jean Kincaid, Norma Wolfe, Jack Baumgardner and Rita Burris.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 West Mill St. in Ossian, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 2-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2024, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Ossian.
