At its weekly meeting on Thursday, Aug. 19, Ossian Rotary will hear from Lisa Craig, an Ossian-based certified public accountant. She will discuss her multi-year journey through colorectal cancer, from which she is now in remission.
Craig is a graduate of Miami University of Ohio with bachelor’s of business degrees in accountancy and finance and later a master’s in accountancy. Since 2011, she has been a certified public accountant that owns and operates her own business preparing individual income taxes.
In July, 2020, during the height of COVID, at the age of 38, Craig was diagnosed with colorectal cancer. She had no family history of cancer. To battle the disease, Craig underwent radiation, chemotherapy, and two surgeries, and has now been in remission for three and a half years. She will be discussing the alarming increase in colorectal cancer in younger generations, the importance of screening and early detection, warning signs and symptoms, as well as treatments available.
Anyone is welcome to attend Ossian Rotary this Thursday morning, at 7:30 at First Baptist Church of Ossian, 1001 Dehner Drive, for this program. Please note that if Norwell Schools has a weather delay or cancellation, Ossian Rotary will cancel its meeting for that day.
