Knights improve to 4-0 in boys’ tennis, top Jets
Norwell visited cross-county rival Adams Central and swept them 5-0 in tennis Thursday.
The win brings the Knights to an unbeaten record of 4-0 on the season.

• Gavin Reynolds defeated Logan Heiman 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1 singles.
• Braylon Troutt defeated Krew Clark 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2 singles.
• Landon Diver defeated Zach Frank 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.
• Eddie Archbold and Ayden Quintanilla defeated Brody Isch and Mason Fruechette 6-3 (5-7), 10-5 at No. 1 doubles.
• Rylan Heyerly and Ethan Williamson defeated Chris Espinosa and Maiden Patterson 6-4, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.
The Knights won the junior varsity game 4-3.

Knights fall to Warriors in volleyball
Norwell fell to Woodlan in straight sets Thursday night at The Castle.
Scores from the match were 19-25, 22-25, 21-25. Their team record is now 2-3.
Stat leaders: Vanessa Rosswurm nine kills (Jaycie Grzych eight), Emma Vachon two aces and 28 assists, Isabella Anderson, Mekynzi Beck and Rosswurm one block and Autumn Lee 22 digs.
Norwell won the junior varsity game 2-1 (25-16, 20-25, 15-11) and the freshman match 2-1 (22-25, 25-23, 15-13).
Norwell will be at the Prairie Heights Invitational at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31.
Indians beat the Raiders in four sets
Southern Wells dropped a home match to Mississinewa Thursday night.
In four sets, the Raiders fell 21-25, 25-12, 15-25, 24-26. The loss brings their record to 2-3 on the season.
Abbie Powell had 17 kills, eight aces to lead the team. Kila Shelley had eight kills and Emma Parks five kills.
Southern Wells will be at the Cowan Invitational at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31.
Tigers drop to Eagles in volleyball match
Bluffton fell in straight sets at Churubusco Thursday night.
The Tigers fell 4-25, 21-25, 18-25. Their record is now 1-6.
Stat leaders: Konley Ault and Maryn Schreiber 10 kills, Isla Gibson 12 assists, Rori Drayer two aces, Marly Drayer nine digs and Schreiber and Gibson one block.
Bluffton fell in the junior varsity match 2-1. Scores were 13-25, 25-21, 13-15.
Stat leaders: Ava Trexler six kills, Kenley Smith nine assists, Grace Fry three aces, Jaida Mills 13 digs and Bridget Steffen one block.
Bluffton will host Marion at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3.
Tigers, Knights split in middle school football
Bluffton and Norwell played in middle school football at The Courtyard Wednesday night.
Bluffton’s eighth grade team shut out the Knights 31-0. For the Tigers, Chase Kistler had 16 carries for 77 yards and three touchdowns. Ethan Ribich went 7-10 on passes for 138 yards and a touchdown. Maddox White had three catches for 86 yards and a touchdown.
The Tigers’ defense held the Knights to -23 yards on offense.
Norwell won the seventh grade game 14-13. Touchdowns were scored by Cooper Figert and Tyson Taylor.
For Bluffton, Kreigh Ault had a 36-yard pass to Riker Beste for a touchdown. Beste also had a 26-yard touchdown run. Davin Drayer with the extra point.
Drayer had 10 carries for 69 yards, Beste had two catches for 42 yards and Ault went 4-9 throwing for 51 yards with a touchdown.
Norwell sweeps 8th and 7th grade XC, volleyball
Norwell’s middle school teams crushed the competition at the Bellmont Conditioner.
The boys and girls both won as teams. The boys’ top pairing for the race was Maddux Thornton and Easton Reinhard. For the girls, Hadley Meyer and Kenley Reed were in first and were followed by Leah Randol and Avery Thornton.
Norwell’s eighth and seventh grade volleyball teams swept Bluffton at home on Thursday.
Score for the eighth grade match were 25-15, 25-15 and for the seventh grade match, it was 25-9, 25-16.
