DECATUR — Two days, two invitational championships for Norwell and two individual titles for Emma Schwartz
Just the day before, the girls’ golf season began with a Norwell Knights victory at the South Adams Invitational. On Tuesday, the Knights took home the Bellmont Invitational with a score of 369. The event was played at Cross Creek Golf Course.
Bluffton’s Emma Schwartz did the same but as an individual. She scored an 80 overall, which is a school record for an 18-hole outing. This was following the team’s school record for 18 holes at Wabash Valley on Wednesday with a 396.
The field held six local schools. Norwell was the only one to finish under 400. Bluffton fell to second with the exact score of 400, followed by Adams Central at 454, Bellmont 455, Jay County 465 and Heritage 473.
Schwartz’s 80 was the top score by three strokes, skating by Norwell’s Ellie Gatton with an 83.
The Knights went 2-3-4 overall with Gatton, Savanna Simerman at 91 and Emma Burnau at 96. Kylee Nevius placed sixth at 99 and Jessica Bynum finished in 12th place with a score of 106.
The rest of the Tigers included a 103 by Tressa Renner, Piper Morgan (106), Eve Corkwell (111) and Addison Kauffman (120).
Bluffton will be at Bellmont at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12.
Norwell will host New Haven next at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9.
