Knights pick up road baseball win over Bruins

Norwell traveled to Northrop and beat the Bruins 6-2 in baseball Wednesday night.

The Knights’ record is now 15-7 on the season.

Of the seven hits, Norwell’s leadoffman Drew Graft went 2-3 with a double and an RBI. Lane Lewis also doubled and brought home a run. Korben Neuenschwander had the final RBI.

Cade Shelton picked up the win, throwing seven innings and allowing two runs, five hits, one walk and six strikeouts.

Norwell will be at Carroll at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 16.

Knights defeat Warriors in non-conference softball

Norwell defeated Woodlan at home 9-7 in softball Wednesday night.

The Knights moved their record to 11-7 with four games remaining.

Norwell had 11 hits in the game, led by Jordan Markley’s 3-4 night with a double and a home run for two RBI. Kara Brown, Sami Lemler and Nevada Lenwell all had two hits and an RBI. Brown with a double. Leah Werling and Abby Wagner had hits and RBI.

Brown got the win, throwing three innings and allowing no runs on one hit, no walks and two strikeouts. Kayla Watkins allowed seven runs (one earned) in four innings and struck out three.

Norwell will host North Side at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 16.

Tigers fall to Eagles in softball

Bluffton’s softball team fought hard on Senior Night, but fell 9-6 to Fremont in eight innings Wednesday night.

The loss dropped its record to 10-11 on the season with two games to go.

The Tigers had 11 hits on the night, led by Averi Petty with three and scored two runs. Marly Drayer went 2-3 with a double and an RBI. Madyson Sonnigsen went 2-2 with a double an an RBI. Isabella Stout, Konley Ault and Kayla Kiefer had hits and RBI. Kiefer’s was a double.

Sonnigsen got the loss, throwing four innings and allowing three runs. Tyrah Shaw pitched four innings and allowed six runs (one earned).

Bluffton will face Bishop Luers at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 16.

Jets top Raiders in golf

Southern Wells fell at home to Adams Central Tuesday night 186-180 at Dogwood Glen.

The Raiders were led by Chandler Oswalt, who shot a 43 and was tied for the medalist, followed by Tristen Worster (46), Cash Banter (47), Gabe McElhaney (50) and Dirk Frauhiger (53).

Southern Wells will be at home again to face Madison-Grant at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 16.

Knights shut out Panthers in JV baseball

Norwell shut out Snider and Columbia City in junior varsity baseball 11-0 and 7-0 at home night.

In the game against Snider on Wednesday, Jaxson Dohrman, Josia Ray and Will Case all had two-hit games. Trey Privett had a hit and two RBI. Adam Mehnensmith, Dohrman, Ray and Luke Ward all had RBI.

Palmer Krug got the win, throwing three innings, allowing one hit and no runs with four strikeouts. Cade Thornton and Dohrman threw an inning and allowed no runs.

In the game against Columbia City, the Knights Case led the way going 2-2 with a triple and two RBI and Ray went 2-2 with a double and an RBI. Privett, Mehnensmith and Brayden Huffman had RBI.

Huffman got the win, throwing 4.2 innings and allowing no runs on two hits, no walks and struck out eight.

Knights beat county rival Tigers in junior varsity softball

Norwell defeated Bluffton in junior varsity softball Tuesday night.

The Knights had nine hits, led by Bria Reinhard who went 3-4 with two RBI. Carli Fausz and Nara Brock had two hits. Brock, Alli Crow, and Ayla Nern had RBI.

Reinhard got the win, throwing four innings and allowing five runs (two earned) with no hits and three strikeouts. Fausz threw three innings and allowed one hit and no runs while striking out four.

The Tigers had one hit and it was from Kierstynn Reed. Reese Turnbull, Addison Gehring and Sy’Annha Jordan-Turner had RBI.

Kinlee Taylor took the loss.
