County churches get ready for National Day of Prayer
By SYDNEY KENT
Wells County churches are preparing for the annual Bible reading marathon on the courthouse plaza in the days leading up to the National Day of Prayer on May 2.
More readers are urgently needed, according to Pastor Neil Ainslie. Ainslie said the marathon is a great opportunity for churches, bible study groups, community service groups and school groups to join together for the community.
The event will begin with a prayer walk at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, starting at the Parlor City Plaza. The official bible reading will begin at noon on Wednesday, and continue through midnight. The reading will take place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, concluding with a group of pastors reading the 21st and 22nd chapters of Revelation.
A worship service centered around the National Day of Prayer will be held on May 2 from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m.
Those interested in participating in the Bible reading should call Pastor Neil Ainslie at 260-273-0089.
Groups are asked to sign up for at least one hour of public reading of the Old Testament or New Testament by Monday. Volunteers are also needed to help set up and tear down for the event.
