Indiana residents have through Monday, April 8, to register for the upcoming Tuesday, May 7, primary election. To check your voter registration status and ballot information, visit indianavoters.in.gov.
Early voting begins April 9. The Clerk’s Office at the Wells County Courthouse will be available for early voting 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays through May 3, as well as 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, and Saturday, May 7, and 8 a.m. to noon on Monday, May 6.
Early voting will also be available from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, April 29, and Tuesday, April 30, at the Wells County 4-H Park; 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 27, and Saturday, May 4, at Presbyterian Church; and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 2, and Tuesday, April 30, at Lighted Gardens.
Election Day vote centers are open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 7. Voting locations are:
• Wells County 4-H Park, 1240 4-H Park Rd. in Bluffton
• Presbyterian Church, 215 E Dustman Rd. in Bluffton
• Lighted Gardens, 10794 N S.R. 1 in Ossian
• Zanesville Tower Life Center, 11811 N Wayne St. in Zanesville
• Southern Wells Community Church, 9450S 300W in Poneto
Mail-in ballot applications are available at wellscounty.org/elections. Applications are due to the Clerk’s Office or Indiana Election Division by the end of the day April 25.
Contested offices in the primary election are:
• Wells County Commissioner, District 3 (R): Jeff Stringer and Tamra Boucher.
• County Council, three At-Large (R): Vicki Andrews, Scott Elzey, Seth Whicker and Heath Schlagenhauf.
• U.S. Representative, District 3 (R): Grant Bucher, Wendy Davis, Mike Felker, Jon Kenworthy, Tim Smith, Marlin A. Stutzman, Eric Whalen and Andy Zay.
• U.S. Representative, District 3 (D): Kiley M. Adolph and Phil Goss.
• Governor (R): Mike Braun, Brad Chambers, Suzanne Crouch, Eric Doden, Curtis Hill and Jamie Reitenour.
• U.S. Senator (D): Marc Carmichael and Valerie McCray.
Three precincts also have contested races for Republican committeemen — Brandon Harnish and Tami Runyon are filed for Bluffton 5; Mike Lautzenheiser Jr. and Preston Wright for Bluffton Lancaster East; and Kathy Peeper and Ashley Peterson for Lancaster East.
The following individuals have filed for 12 Republican convention delegate seats: Ethan Bailey, Heather Barkley, Joshua Barkley, Tamra Boucher, Case Ferree, Sandra Garcia, Brandon Harnish, Rebecca Holdman, Travis Holdman, Josh Hunt, Scott Mentzer, Daphne Mygrant, Ashley Peterson, Kerry Roberts, Laura Roberts, Zach Rodgers, Joan Whicker and Preston Wright.
