Knights sweep home opener in volleyball over Northrop

The Norwell volleyball team has started the season 2-0 with back-to-back sweeps, this time at home over Northrop Tuesday night.

The Knights won the first set 26-24, the second 25-21, and the third 25-22.

Norwell will host Heritage at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17.

Tigers have unofficial loss due to weather in boys’ tennis

The Bluffton boys’ tennis team fell in the opening match of the season at Union City Tuesday.

The score was officially 3-0. However, both doubles matches were not complete by the time the match was called due to weather conditions. Both Tigers teams were in the lead for doubles at the time.

Varsity results:

Owen Dowler (UC) defeated Anthony Hartman (B) 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles.

Zack Fulk (UC) defeated Kade Abbett (B) 6-0, 6-2 in No. 2 singles.

Corbin Richards (UC) defeated Coy Lantz (B) 6-4, 6-0 in No. 3 singles.

Nolan Lambert and Dane Sclagenhauf (B) were in the lead over Brennan Hoggart and Jacob Thornburg (UC) 6-7 (5-7), 6-2, 4-3 in No. 1 doubles.

Jed Logan and Jacob Ribich (B) were in the lead over Kolton Miles and Caleb Lutz (UC) 0-6, 7-6, (7-5), 3-0 in No. 2 doubles.

The Bluffton junior varsity team won was leading 2-1 before two of the matches got canceled as well.

JV results:

Lance Moser (B) defeated Diego Jeranimo (UC) 8-2.

Grant Reifsteck and Braden Lemler (B) defeated Anthony Wyatt and Gabe Tapp 8-4.

Gabe Taabb (UC) was in the lead Evan Klopfenstein (B) 7-1.

Graham Linderwell (B) was in the lead over Anthony Wyatt (UC) 5-4.

Bluffton will travel to Bellmont for a varsity-only match at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17.

Tigers swept by Vikings in volleyball opener

The Bluffton volleyball team took the loss on the road at Huntington North Tuesday night.

The Tigers fell in the first set 25-13, the second set 25-16, and the third 25-13.

Stat leaders were Maryn Schreiber with seven digs and five kills, Haley Gibson with 13 assists and one stuff block, Konley Ault with two aces, Isabella Stout with seven digs, and Ally Koby with one stuff block. 

The junior varsity team also lost, the score being 2-0  with the first set as 25-20 and the second 25-19.

Leaders for the JV team on the stat sheet were Sophie Eisenhut with two aces and two kills, Isla Gibson with two kills and four assists, Rori Drayer with two kills and Ava Troxel and Addison Gehring with seven digs each. 

Bluffton will be at the Argyl Invitational at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19.

Raiders drop first volleyball match of the season to Panthers

The Southern Wells volleyball team fell 3-0 on the road to Eastbrook Tuesday.

Eastbrook won the first set 25-12, the second 25-11, and the third 25-20.

Southern Wells will travel to Northfield starting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17.
