GENEVA — It’s only taken the Norwell girls’ golf team two days to take home two first-place plaques in the early going of the fall sports season.

This time, the Knights returned to Ossian after a top finish in the South Adams Invitational by 11 strokes and a total team score of 379. Unlike Tuesday’s win at Bellmont, with six schools participating, this event was against 14 others.

Norwell’s top individual scorer, Anna Dodane, takes a drive on the sixth hole during the South Adams Invitational at Wabash Valley Golf Course Wednesday morning. Dodane finished the day shooting an 89, good for second on the leaderboard behind Warsaw’s Claire Reust at 87, helping the Knights to their second invitational victory in the last two days.

Anna Dodane was the top-scorer for Norwell with an 89 and was two strokes back behind the leader Claire Reust from Warsaw. Ellie Gatton shot a 93, good for fourth at the invite, while Savannah Simmerman just made the top-10 cut in 10th place with a score of 97.

The Knights rounded out their starting five with a tied for 14th overall finish by Emmy Heaston at 100, and Nevada Lenwell at 19th with a score of 104.

Bluffton’s Tressa Renner putting on the ninth hole during the invitational, the Tigers third best for the day with a score of 114.

Emma Schwartz represented Bluffton’s lone top-10 golfer, tying for fifth with three others with a 95. The Tigers finished with a team score of 425 to sit in fifth place.

Eve Corkwell placed 12th overall, shooting a 98 on the day. Following Corkwell was Tressa Renner at 114, Piper Morgan at 118, and Aleeah Grover with a 129.

Southern Wells made its season debut after winning the ACAC conference and sectional titles last season. Due to four seniors graduating last year, the team at this invitational only had three participants, disqualifying them from the team standings.

Sophie Meeks led the way for the Raiders with a 114, followed by Kolbie Bevans with a 116, and Caroline Ripperger with a 117.

Norwell will travel to New Haven for its next time on the course, starting at 4:30 p.m. Friday, August 4.

Bluffton will travel to Southwood starting at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, August 10.
