Looks like it is a perfect day to be outside as I write this column on Tuesday, June 6.

It is a busy time as we are getting ready for our big celebration on July 29. Zanesville will be celebrating their 175th birthday!

Looking back in my writings in 1992, I find that we had a record car show with 102 cars registered and a record parade of 80 entrants. Of course, we were gearing up for incorporation of the town and all those running for other government spots in Wells and Allen County came to get votes.

The invitations to car show entrants will go out this week and the mailing will include a brochure of events for the day.

Other events may be added before the festival day.

Keep looking on Facebook at Lions Club Summer Festival for more information.

Looking forward to happenings you will want to look into:

The Zanesville Youth Program is held at the Tower Life Center Gymnasium.

The Zanesville Community Church of God Read It program begins on Wednesday, June 14. Check this out for registration on their Facebook page.

The Zanesville Community Church of God will begin their annual Centershot program on Mondays starting July 10. This is an archery program. Equipment is furnished but you will need to register. The deadline for registering is July 1.

I will have more information on these programs soon.

Our condolences to the family and friends of Phillip Smith who passed away at the age of 79 on May 29. Phil was a long time resident of the Zanesville area moving to Ossian only recently. He was a member of the 1961 graduating class of East Union Center.
