“They don’t make ‘em like they used to.”
You’ve probably said (or at least heard) this phrase at one time or another, usually quoted when a pricey item breaks for the final time and must be replaced. No amount of duct tape, soldering, or fixing will do – whatever we relied on is now worthless, unusable.
Nothing but life and death is guaranteed, which opens the door to unlimited scams and even legitimate offers of “added peace of mind” if we simply invest in an extended warranty or life insurance coverage.
Expired warranties even apply to our physical bodies, which tend to break down as time goes on. While healthy lifestyles definitely help prolong life, even those conscious choices do not prevent accidents or illnesses from ravaging our lives.
Only one contract can completely cover our lives for eternity: the assurance given to us by our Creator when He provided salvation through His only Son, Jesus Christ.
John 3:16 promises that whoever believes in Jesus Christ will be forgiven and experience eternal life in heaven.
1 Peter 2:24 guarantees that Jesus took the punishment for our sins on His own body, making us right with God forever.
1 John 1:9 states that when we confess our sins to God, He forgives and purifies us from all wrongdoing.
Romans 10:9-10 assures us that when we believe in the promise of salvation through Christ and confess Him to the world, we are saved — guaranteed!
Jesus Himself made the promise that the ones who come to Him for salvation cannot ever be snatched away from Him (John 10:28). Talk about an everlasting warranty! Best of all, this extended life insurance comes at no cost to us — Jesus once and for all paid the price for our salvation – we simply need to accept this free gift (Romans 6:23).
Next time you are invited to purchase an extended warranty for a new product you consider buying, pause to thank God that the best guarantee you have ever received is from your Heavenly Father, Who always honors His Word.
