City:
Monday, 5:03 p.m., 1100 block of Hollyhock Lane, Connie Durham was backing out of her driveway when she backed into the driver’s side door of a parked vehicle. No injuries. Minimal damage sustained.
County:
Tuesday, 6 a.m., CR 100E, rural Bluffton. Report of a property damage evidently caused by vehicle leaving the roadway at 0270N 100E in Ossian, striking a trash can, proceeding into the ditch, and continuing through the yard and field. In the field, the vehicle lost a tire jack, tool box, and oil can. The tire tracks then showed the vehicle making a large u-turn and proceeding toward the property owner’s driveway. The driver of the vehicle appeared to put the trash cans back in place, but did not report the incident. At approximately 3:17 p.m., driver Joseph P. McGuigan, 18, Ossian, reported he had caused the damage in his 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck. McGuigan advised at approximately 6 a.m. he had swerved to miss a dog on the roadway and did not report the damage immediately because he thought the Sheriff’s office didn’t open until 8:30 a.m. No charged were filed, per the property owner’s request. Damage exceeded $5,000.
