Rocco Hanes of Ossian, a sophomore on the Manchester University baseball team, has been accorded second team honors as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its all-conference selections this week.
Hanes, a Norwell High School graduate, had a strong sophomore season for the Spartans, finishing the season with a .353 batting average and leading the team in doubles with 18. Hanes’ 18 doubles are tied for ninth all-time in Manchester history for doubles in a single season.
Hanes, a catcher, finished the season with 35 RBI, a .512 slugging percentage, and was 8-11 in stolen base attempts. Hanes also saw action on the mound for the Black and Gold, making 11 pitching appearances with 46.2 innings pitched and 37 strikeouts.
