Knights softball bounces back with win over Panthers
The Norwell softball team traveled and beat Lakewood Park 12-0 Thursday.
The Knights are now 6-5 on the season, bouncing back after a 5-2 loss to Bellmont the previous day.
Jordan Markley led the team with two hits and drove in a run, and also stole a base. Emma Bailey drove in two runs with a triple, and Elle Misch had two RBIs on a double. Tessa Garrett had two RBIs as well.
Kara Brown earned the win, throwing four innings and allowing no runs on three hits, and struck out eight. Madyson Sonnigsen threw an inning in relief and struck out the side in order.
Norwell will be at Heritage at 5:30 p.m. Friday, April 28.
Raiders top the Apaches in boys’ golf
Southern Wells defeated Wabash in boys’ golf at home Thursday.
The Raiders won by a team score of 185-212 over the Apaches.
Leading the way was Chandler Oswalt, who shot a 43 and earned the medalist of the match. Bailey Couch shot a 45, while Quinton Mullins had a 48, and Gabe McElhaney had a 49.
Southern Wells will host the conference quad at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 2.
Bluffton sweeps Wayne in girls tennis
The Bluffton girls’ tennis team picked up a win at home, 5-0, over Wayne Thursday.

Raiders splits track meet with Norse
The Southern Wells boys’ track team won, while the girls’ team lost on the road to Northfield Thursday.
The boys’ team won 81-41, and the girls’ lost 71-47.

• Kane Jenkins in the 11m hurdles with a time of 17.72 and in the 300IM with a time of 49.12.

Tigers fall to Warriors in ACAC baseball
The Bluffton Tigers fell on the road to Woodlan in ACAC play 3-2.
The Tigers are now 2-1 in conference play.
Eli Garrett and Drew Pressler led the way with two hits each, Pressler with an RBI. Braxton Betancourt had a double, and Nick Pastore had an RBI single.
Betancourt got the loss, allowing three unearned runs, two hits, and struck out 14.
Bluffton will host Churubusco at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 29.
Braves defeat Knights in girls tennis
The Norwell girls’ tennis team dropped just its second game of the season as the host Bellmont edged the Knights 3-2 Thursday.

Raiders fall to Patriots in baseball
Southern Wells fell to the visiting Heritage Patriots Thursday 16-0.
The Raiders had two hits in the game, one from Cody Peirdue and one from Wyatt Yoder.
Southern Wells will be at the Dylan Williams Memorial Invitational starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 29.
Patriots beat the Raiders in softball
Southern Wells fell to the visitor Heritage 15-0 Thursday in softball.
Kyah Thomas had the lone hit for the Raiders.

Knights split MS girls’ soccer with Braves
Norwell went 1-1 in middle school girls’ soccer over Crestview on Thursday.
The team coached by Tim Musselman won 2-0, with AJ Bunn and Elias Musselman scoring goals.
The team coached by Dan Batdorf lost 1-0, as Crestview scored with about four minutes left in the game. Batdorff said Leah Randol, Avery Elmore, and Jillian Smith had great games, and Addison Parsons had a good night in net.
Norwell will be at Woodside at 5 p.m. Monday, May 1.
Norwell MS track sweeps Marion McCulloch
The Norwell middle school track team won both the boys and girls track meet against McCulloch on Thursday.
Event winners for the girls.
• Eden Nash in the 200m hurdles with a time of 31.14 and beat the school record, previously held by Nash on Wednesday.
• Emma Fey in the shot put with a throw of 27 feet three inches and in the discus with a throw of 66 feet one inch.
• Mia Krtz in the 1600m with a time of 5:48.4, in the pole vault with a jump of six feet six inches, and in the 200m with a time of 28.4
• Kylie Hannie in the 800m with a time of 2:59.2.

Norwell’s junior varsity baseball team defeated the visiting Bellmont Braves 9-2 on Thursday.
Will Case led the way with two hits and an RBI. Noah Turk and Gary Riley had doubles. Riley with three RBIs and Max Babcock had a triple and an RBI.
Adam McBride earned the win, throwing 6 2/3 innings, allowing two unearned runs, and struck out nine.
