Knights slug past Jackets with 10-run mercy rule

Norwell’s baseball team made the road trip up to Angola for an 11-1 win over the Yellowjackets Friday night.

Drew and Luke Graft led the team with two hits each, Drew with a double, and Luke with a triple. Both also led the team with two RBIs each as well. 

Trey Bodenheimer and Brody Bolyn added doubles in the game.

Graham Gaier threw a complete five-inning game allowing just three hits and one unearned run, striking out five.

Norwell will host Concordia at 5:30 p.m. Monday, April 24.

Bluffton boys and girls track teams fall to Yorktown

Both Bluffton track teams were in action on Thursday at Yorktown.

The boys’ team lost by a team score of 78-53, while the girls lost 86 to 44.

Top performers for the boys were:

• Khamel Moore second in the 200m with a time of 24.2.

• Jude Baumgartner second in the 400m with a time of 53.7.

• Tyler Godwin first in the 800m with a time of 2:09 and the mile with a time of 4:47.

• Sam Baumgartner first in the two mile with a time of 11:18.

• Levi Johns second in the two mile with a time of 11:23.

• Andrew Hunt first in the 110m hudles with a time of 17.3 and second in the 300m hurdles with a time of 44.2.

• Maksym Laishevkin, Godwin, Jude Baumgartner, and hunt second in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:45.9.

• Jude Baumgartner, Johns, Sam Baumgartner, and Godwin first in the 4x800m relay with a time of 8:49.

• Johnny Cruz second in the shot put with a throw of 49 feet eight inches.

• Sam Mechling third in the shot put with a throw of 42 feet eight inches.

• Tavin Frees second in the discus with a throw of 115 feet nine inches.

Top performers for the girls were:

• Rylynn Penick second in the 100m with a time of 13.3.

• Maryn Schreiber second in the 400m with a time of 1:06.2 and second in the 800m with a time of 2:52.0.

• Sophie Schwartz first in the 100m hurdles with a time of 18.1.

• Haley Gibson, Lauren Reiff, Ava Troxel, and Penick second in the 4x100m relay with a time of 53 seconds.

• Dakota Lee, Olivia Schreiber, Penick, and Maryn Schreiber second in the 4x400m relay with a time of 4:53.6.

• Troxel first in the long jump with a jump of 14 feet 6.25 inches.

• Reiff first in the discus with a throw of 115 feet one inch and second in the shot put with a throw of 33 feet 11 inches.

Both teams will be at Woodlan with Adams Central at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. April 25.
