Knights remain unbeaten with win over Giants
Norwell continued its hot start to the season with another big victory on the baseball diamond. The Knights (5-0) defeated Marion at home 16-0 in the nonconference match Monday afternoon.
Brody Bolyn had a monster day at the plate, going three-for-three that, included a double and a home run to add to his six RBI day.
Drew Graft, Curtis Ellis, and Lleyton Bailey all had multi-hit games and two RBIs apiece.
Lane Lewis got the win on the mound, tossing four innings of scoreless baseball on a pair of hits and walks while striking out eight.
Graham Gaier shut the door in the fifth, striking out two in the scoreless frame. The fifth inning ended up being the final one due to mercy rules.
Norwell will play at Mississinewa starting at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 11.
Tigers, Golden Eagles end softball game in tie
The Bluffton and Oak Hill softball teams took nine innings to still end up without a winner on Monday. The score was 10-10 at Bluffton High School before the game was deemed too dark to complete, with a runner on first in the bottom of the ninth inning, and nobody out. The game results in a tie.
The Tigers move to 0-4-1 on the season.
Lily King was the star of the night for the Tigers, throwing all nine innings and allowing three earned runs, striking out seven, and hitting her first career home run. She finished the night going three-for-five with 5 RBIs.
Averi Petty went four-for-five with 2 RBIs. Tressa Renner, Tyrah Shaw, and Isabella Stout added two hits.
Bluffton will host Manchester starting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 11.
Raiders lose in rout to Indians in baseball
Southern Wells fell to 2-4 on the baseball season, losing to Mississinewa 18-2 on Monday.
The Raiders tallied five hits distributed equally among by five different players.
Cody Perdue drove in two runs with a single that gave the Raiders their two for the game.
Southern Wells will be at Eastbrook starting at 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 12.
Knights score 10 in 6th frame, defeat Chargers
The Norwell junior varsity softball team overcame a six-run deficit before scoring 10 in the sixth frame to beat Carroll 10-6 at home Monday afternoon.
The Knights only drove in three runs in the game, but four Charger errors helped for a big sixth inning in the comeback.
Two Knights had two-hit games to lead the team, Kara Brown and Leah Werling. Werling had a double in the game, the only extra-base knock the team had.
Alyssa Krinn, Abby Wagner, and Makayla Young tallied RBIs.
Brown got the win on the mound, tossing 2 1/3 innings and allowing zero runs or hits with three strikeouts.
Norwell hosts Concordia at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 11.
