The Norwell baseball team had a successful trip down to Jennings County on Saturday, sweeping the two games to open up the season against the host team and Seegar.

In the first game against Jennings County, the Knights won 16-1 and strung together 20 hits in the five-inning mercy rule game.

Curtis Ellis led the pack on the scorecard going 4-4 with two triples. Drew Graft and Luke McBride had three-hit games.

Lane Lewis got the win on the mound, hurling all five innings, allowing one run on two hits, and striking out five.

In game two, Norwell defeated Class 2A’s No. 5 ranked Seegar Patriots.

Cade Shelton had a team-high four hits in the game, going 4-5. Brody Bolyn and Graham Gaier added three hits each, Gaier with a pair of doubles and a triple.

Ellies got the win on the mound out of relief for the Knights, tossing 3 2/3 innings allowing two runs (none earned), four hits, and striking out two.

Norwell will have its home opener against South Adams starting at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 4.
