Friday, 8:37 p.m., Airplane Express and Service convenience store, 407 N. Main St. Officer pulled over a vehicle and arrested the driver, Joe Anthony Edwards, 20, Fort Wayne, on charges of possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor; and operating a vehicle with a controlled substance in his body, a Class C misdemeanor. Bond set at $1,500. Bonded.

Saturday, 12:34 a.m., residence on North Oak Street Extended. Report of an altercation between a man and a woman at the residence. Wells County EMS dispatched for a female complaining of head pain and a male complaining of head pain and bleeding. Incident remains under investigation.

Saturday, 5:11 a.m., Bluffton Regional Medical Center emergency room. Officer requested to remove a belligerent male patient who had been dismissed.

Saturday, 1:21 p.m., Airplane Express and Service, 407 N. Main St. Caller reported a neighbor may have vandalized his tires.

Sunday, 1:34 p.m., Wells County Public Library, 200 W. Washington St. Bicycle stolen from bike rack.

Monday, 12:41 a.m., Wabash Street at Bennett Street. Officer pulled over a vehicle and arrested the driver, Wendy Joy Jackson, 40, Fort Wayne, on charges of operating a motor vehicle without insurance with a prior conviction for the same offense, a Class C misdemeanor; and driving while suspended, a Class A infraction. She was released on her own recognizance.

Friday, 1:39 p.m., 450E at 1000N. Car slid off the road into the ditch.

Friday, 4:48 p.m., residence on Grape Street in Poneto. Caller reported someone stole the license plate from her 2004 Pontiac Grand Am while the car was parked behind her garage.

Saturday, 2:34 p.m., 450E north of 700N. Sheriff’s deputy was patrolling 450E when an oncoming 2019 Dodge Charger forced him to drive his patrol vehicle into the ditch. The Challenger then drove off the road into the ditch, drove back onto the road and continued driving south on 450E. The car continued south on 450E without stopping. The deputy managed to get his patrol vehicle turned around and followed the Challenger south on 450E to U.S. 224 and pulled it over on U.S. 224. The driver, identified as  Noh Ah Lan, 22, Fort Wayne, blamed his driving behavior on a low tire. While performing a record check on Lan, the deputy discovered that his license was suspended until March 13, 2023, and he had a prior conviction in Wells Superior Court Jan. 19, 2023, for driving while suspended. Lan was charged with driving while suspended, a Class A misdemeanor, and driving left of center, a Class C infraction. He was released on his own recognizance.

Saturday, 7:11 p.m., 812 N. Clark St., Markle. Driver pulled forward in a storage unit parking lot and inadvertently drove into a steep ditch. Markle Fire Department first responders managed to get the vehicle out of the ditch and drove the female and her vehicle back to her residence in Markle.

Saturday, 10:28 p.m., wind blew a construction sign into the road. Deputy put the sign back in the ditch where it had originally been posted.

Sunday, 7:35 p.m., Ind. 1 near 700N. Sheriff’s deputy pulled over a 2005 Hyundai sport utility vehicle for having a headlight out and arrested the driver, Merissa Lashay Hodle, 26, Fort Wayne on charges of possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor; operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor; and operating a vehicle with no or improper headlights, a Class C infraction. Bond set at $1,500. Holde reportedly admitted to the deputy that she had smoked marijuana in the vehicle about 45 minutes earlier. A search of Hodle’s personal effects and of the vehicle reportedly turned up several “roaches” — a slang term for a burned marijuana cigarette — in the ash tray of the vehicle and a small plastic bag of marijuana in Hodle’s purse.

Monday, 6:32 a.m., Ind. 124 at Meridian Road. Deputy pulled over a 2013 Ford Explorer after clocking it at 77 mph-55 zone, and arrested the driver, Bryonne Nikolle Enyart, 28, rural Huntington, on charges of possession of a narcotic drug, a Level 6 felony; driving while suspended with a prior conviction, a Class A misdemeanor; and 77 mph-55 zone. Bond set at $6,500. Enyart reportedly had six active suspensions against her driver’s license and three convictions for driving while suspended. Reportedly in Enyart’s sweatshirt pocket there were five oxymorphone hydrochloride pills — a prescription pain killer for which Enyart reportedly did not have a prescription.

Ossian:

Saturday, 9:29 a.m., Ossian Police Department, 507 N. Jefferson St. Sheriff’s deputy noticed that the front bumper of the department’s 2022 Ford Explorer police vehicle had been damaged. It appeared that someone in a vehicle with a trailer hitch had backed into the Explorer denting the front bumper with the hitch. It is unknown who had backed into the vehicle.

ACCIDENTS

Saturday, 4:30 a.m., Lancaster Street at Adams Street.  Sybill J. Price, 34, Bluffton, was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu east on Lancaster Street when she stopped for the four-way stop intersection. A white vehicle that was westbound came toward her vehicle, sideswiped the Malibu, fled the scene and could not be found. Damage exceeded $5,000

Saturday, 2:32 p.m., Main Street at Jackson Street. William E. Higgins Turner, 22, Tocsin, was driving a 2012 Ford Focus south on Main Street when for reasons unknown he hit a 2010 Ford Fusion from behind driven by Makenna N. Shearer, 18, Huntington. Shearer was slowing to a stop waiting for oncoming traffic to clear so she could make a left turn onto Jackson Street. Higgins Turner reportedly fled his vehicle on foot but didn’t get far and was detained by multiple law enforcement officers. Higgins Turner is potentially facing multiple charges in connection with the crash, including leaving the scene of a personal injury accident. Both Higgins Turner and Shearer suffered minor injuries in the crash and two ambulances from Wells County EMS along with Bluffton Fire Rescue were dispatched to the scene. Total damage exceeded $10,000.

Saturday, 8:55 p.m., Main Street near Sewage Plant Road. Hutchenson M. Craighead, 17, Bluffton, exited the Wings Etc. parking lot in a 2009 Toyota Scion and drove into the path of a northbound 2018 Volvo XC60 driven by Stephanie L. Sharick, 54, rural Shipshewana. The ensuing collision caused more than $5,000 damage. No one was injured.

Monday, 1:28 p.m., Bluffton Regional Medical Center parking lot at the corner of Main and Cherry streets. Connor W. Hammerle, 30, Whitestown, backed a 2014 Hyundai Elantra into a 2023 Honda CRV driven by Sondra J. Litwiller, rural Berne, a Litwiller was driving behind Elantra. Damage exceeded $2,500.

Monday, 7:15 a.m., Ind. 1 just north of 350N. Corrina M. Munson, 50, rural Craigville, hit a deer with her 2017 Cadillac STS. Damage to the vehicle exceeded $1,000.

Sunday, 10:13 p.m., 100W south of 1050S. Single-vehicle crash in an electric pole. Pole broken and wires down. Driver complaining of chest and head pain. The driver reportedly declined transport by ambulance to the hospital. Liberty Township Fire Rescue and Wells County EMS dispatched to the scene. No further details available.

FIRE RUNS

Saturday, 6:58 a.m., Peyton’s Northern, 1111 S. Adams St. Rooftop duct detector fire alarm sounding. Bluffton Fire Department responded. Alarm was triggered by a burned-out motor on a rooftop heating and air conditioning unit. Power to the unit was turned off.

Sunday, 1:47 p.m., Praxis substance abuse treatment facility, 1529 W. Lancaster St. General fire alarm. Bluffton Fire Department dispatched. There was no fire.

Sunday, 3:25 p.m., Brittany Johnson residence, 505 Greenwood Trail. Fire alarm. Ossian Fire Department dispatched. No fire. Faulty detector.

Carrie Sue Bowman, 48, Bluffton; contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a Class A misdemeanor. Bond set at $1,500. Bonded.

Sonny Anthony Williams, 19, Fort Wayne; minor consuming an alcoholic beverage, a Class C misdemeanor. Bond set at $500.

Paris Nicole Crull, 18, North Manchester; minor consuming an alcoholic beverage, a Class C misdemeanor. Bond set at $500.

Noh Ah Lan, 22, Fort Wayne; . Released on his own recognizance.

Charlotte Elizabeth Rothgeb, 46, Ossian; disorderly conduct, a Class B misdemeanor.
