“I love the coaches, the campus, and it’s everything I want,” Colbert said.

The first-team all Northeast 8 safety will continue to play at the same position for the Cougars and as he did for the Knights.

St. Francis is a private Catholic school with an enrollment of 1,903 students. Its academic program and science facility was one of the draws for Colbert, who is planning to study pre dentistry.

The building is named the Achatz Hall of Science and now, with a new expanision thanks to a $3 million dollar donation  by John and Toni Murray, is now named after them.

“I went in the science building — it was brand new. I really enjoyed that,” he said. “I’ll spend a lot orf time there in college. I like their football field, their locker rooms, and everything. I thought it was really nice.”

The Cougars cpmpete in the Crossroads League for most athletics. For football, however, they compete in the Mid-States Football Assosciation along with 16 other schools.

This past season, St. Francis posted a regular season record of 4-6 (2-5 conference), but the program is no stranger to the national stage. In 2017, the Cougars won the NAIA championship over Reinhardt University and had a perfect 15-0 record. The year after, the team lost in the semifinal round.

Norwell teammates Luke Graft and Kyle Zeddis signed to Taylor University, also in the same conference as St. Francis. Colbert said that he’s been talking to them about a potential four-year showdown amung the three.

“We talked and we think it’ll be a great battle and a lot of trash talking,” he said.
