On the NCAA’s national signing day, Norwell’s football star Brody Bolyn made his letter of intent official with Bowling Green State University Wednesday afternoon at the high school.
Although Bolyn has been committed to the Falcons since late June, Wednesday makes his commitment feel even more real.
“It feels good. You feel like you’re a part of the family, but now you’re really a part of the family,” he said. “I think it was definitely a calling for me. It stuck out like a sore thumb like this is where I need to be.”
He gave credit to head coach of the Falcons Scot Loeffler and offensive line coach Chris Hedden for helping him make the choice obvious to choose BGSU.
Brody’s family, friends, teammates, and coaches were in attendance to celebrate. Perhaps around 50 students were there waiting to take a picture afterward with the new part of the Falcons’ offensive line.
Although he is excited to join a new group of people in Bowling Green, Ohio, Brody said he will always be a Knight.
“Going to be a part of a different program, it’s hard leaving the Knights — as coach (Josh) Gerber says, ‘once a Knight, always a Knight’ —but still being a part of a different family and meeting new guys, that will be super exciting. I’m a social guy, and I’m an extrovert, so I’m excited.”
A neat part about national signing day is seeing other signees on Twitter, where schools across the nation are announcing their new players. Bolyn has been keeping tabs on social media to see who his teammates will be. The Bowling Green State Football social media page has already posted 13 different players signed today in its 2023 class.
When asked what he’s most excited about, Bolyn said.
“I’m really excited to fish in another state. That’s probably my No. 1 one thing that I’m super excited about,” he smiled. “But, besides that, I’m excited to be away from home. I am, but I’m not.”
