The Norwell and Bluffton girls’ swim teams opened up the 2022-2023 season at the Norwell High School Invite. Norwell ended up winning the 13-team event with 218 points, while the Tigersharks placed 11th with 23 points.
For Norwell, Jillian Melcher, Emma Page, Ella Krug, and Emerson Meredith finished second in the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:02.21, and Rilynn Ervin, Ryleigh Huffman, Cassie Coyne, and Addyson Heyerly finished 11th at 2:15.35
Coyne finished third in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:14.09, and Gracie Rinkenberger placed 20th at 2:32.05.
Melcher finished eighth in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:42.17, and Ryleigh Huffman finished 11th at 2:46.25.
Meredith finished third in the 50 freestyle with a time of 26.27, and Renee Fraze finished 11th at 29.04.
Krug finished third in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:06.80, Ryleigh finished seventh at 1:15.61, and Alaina Barnhart finished 14th at 1:20.91.
Emerson Meredith finished second in the 100 freestyle with a time of 58.95, Fraze finished 10th at 1:05.50, and Addyson Heyerly in 14th at 1:06.57.
Cassie Coyne finished third in the 500 freestyle with a time of 6:07.17, Emma Page finished fifth at 6:08.58, and Karrigan Melcher in 10th at 6:31.05.
Sawyer Peterson, Heyerly, Fraze, and Meredith finished sixth in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:56.48, and Gracie Rikenberger, Rylee Searles, Nicole Crawford, and Alaina Barnhart finished 12th at 2:08.46.
Jillian Melcher finished third in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:07.63, Heyerly 10th at 1:17.55, and Searles in 13th at 1:19.00.
Krug finished sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:19.71, Ervin in 14th at 1:27.51, and Crawford in 23rd at 1:37.13.
Melcher, Coyne, Krug, and Page finished second in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:58.69, and Searles, Fraze, Peterson, and Melcher in 7th with a time of 4:32.26.
For Bluffton, Annika Linderwell, Olivia Preister, Zoey Schmidt, and Libby Arnett finished 13th in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:16.12, and Chloe Bredemeyer, Klara Sammons, MaryBeth Zurcher, and Lydia Athan finished 19th at 2:33.58.
Schmidt finished 17th in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:30.45, Emma Frauhiger finished 23rd at 2:37.97, and Bredemeyer finished 29th at 2:54.05.
Arnett finished 21st in the 200-yard IM with a time of 3:07.27, Athan 24th at 3:16.46, and Zurcher in 25th at 3:20.46.
Linderwell finished 16th in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 29.34, and Claire Craighead in 28th at 31.82.
Arnett finished 18th in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:31.13, and Sammons in 19th at 1:31.96.
Priester finished 19th in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:07.95, Schmidt in 21st at 1:08.26, and Zurcher in 28th at 1:16.28.
Linderwell finished eighth in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:24.59 and Frauhiger in 22nd at 7:23.44.
Bredemeyer, Athan, Frauhiger, and Arnett finished 13th in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 2:12.08.
Athan finished 24th in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:29.74, and Craighead in 33rd with a time of 1:45.42.
Sammons finished 24th in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:45/09.
Priester, Frauhiger, Schmidt, and Linderwell finished sixth in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 4:31.79.
Norwell will swim next at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15th, at Adams Central. Bluffton will be in action next at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15th, at Huntington North.
