The final sale event to help support a Christian organization that provides income for Haitian women will be held today (Friday) and Saturday at Kingdom Academy, 225 Ferguson Park, Bluffton.

A variety of handcrafted items are produced by ladies at Centre Lumiere, located near Les Cayes, Haiti. The center teaches life skills in embroidery, crochet, sewing, cooking, health and other subjects. Melanie Gerber is the local coordinator of fundraising for the center, which promotes its mission “to help young Haitian women develop character, social skills, spiritual gifts and practical abilities that equip them for life and ministry.”

Gerber emphasized that “100 percent of the proceeds are returned to Centre Lumiere allowing the women to earn income for their families.”

Items for sale will include dishtowels, aprons, women’s accessories, babies’ and children’s items and doll clothes.

Sale hours are Friday, noon to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
