Congratulations to 8-year-old Corbin Karst, who won the fall coloring contest out of 85 entries. The winter coloring contest will start Nov. 16, so check your kids’ school bags a week before.
Our friends at the Wells County 4-H will host a Spooktacular Halloween event today from 5-9 p.m. at the 4-H Park. Admission to the event is one can of either mixed fruit, pineapple, mandarin orange, corn, mixed vegetables, or green beans per person. The donations will go towards the feeding tomorrow’s future today backpack program. The event includes carnival games, prizes, food concessions, the log cabin, and more. Games and prizes for the younger kids will run from 5- 9 p.m., and a spooky forest for older kids will run from 7 – 9 p.m.
Monday, Oct. 31 is a busy night. Don’t forget to stop by the front of the City Hall to get candy from the mayor before you wind your way back to the gym for our Autumn Adventure from 5-6 p.m. We have 18 businesses and clubs that will have a table set up to hand out treats. November is right around the corner, and that means that Sam the Sneaky Turkey will be on the loose traveling the parks and trails in Bluffton. This “hide and seek” game will have a paper cut out of Sam hiding in a park from Nov. 1 until Thanksgiving. If your child finds him, please call the park office at 824-6069 before you deliver Sam back to us and claim your prize. We will then re-hide Sam in a different location after he is found. Winners are limited to claiming the prize one time during the month of November.
Free Open Gym offers supervised activities beginning Nov. 3 — mid-March in the Bluffton City Gym for school-aged kids K-12th grade. All participants must fill out a parental permission slip (either the first day they attend or print one off and send it in with them. We are partnering with Community Harvest again this year to offer snacks for the kids.
