Bluffton girls’ golf team places third at ACAC meet
The Bluffton girls’ golf team finished third in the Allen County Athletic Conference Meet Saturday morning at Celina Lynx Golf Club.
The Tigers shot a 430 on the day, which was one stroke behind second-place South Adams.
Individually, the top scorer was Lily King. King’s score of 98 placed third overall at the event.
Following King for Bluffton was ninth place Emma Schwartz, with a 105, and in 10th place was Kennedy Nash with a 108. Eve Corkwell finished in 21st place with a 119, and Tressa Renner placed 28th with a score of 129.
Bluffton will finish the regular season against Bellmont at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept 15, at Timber Ridge Golf Course.
Norwell boys’ XC places second, girls’ sixth at Wildcat Invitational
Norwell’s cross country teams participated at the Wildcat Invitational at Indiana Wesleyan University Saturday morning.
The boys’ team finished in second place, while the girls finished sixth.
Individually, Zach Waldman from the Knights won the event with a time of 16:49.60. Following Waldman was Marin Melcher in 16th place at 18:33.0. Gavin Threewits placed 19th at 18:43.20. Bobby Kwandrans placed 32nd at 18:58.20. The rest of the runners were Lukas Mashuda in 34th, Landon Diver in 36th, Zathan Westfall in 52nd, Elijah Jacob in 74th, Luke Johnson in 84th, and Jasper Kreigh in 85th.
For the girls, Makenzee Khan led the way in 38th place at 20:32.90. Ashley Waldman placed 41st at 20:49.90. Brooklyn Meyer placed 43rd at 20:53.60. and Haleigh Reinhard finished 45th at 20:58.20. The rest of the runners were Addison Meyer in 48th at 21:01.60, Elizabeth Norris in 78th, Alana Cady in 93rd, Allie Shepard in 115th, Emerson Meredith in 128th, Hattie Lewis in 130th, and Teagan Lesley in 135th.
Both teams will be at the Riverview Health Invitational, hosted by Westfield High School at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept 17.
Southern Wells boys’ XC finishes fifth at Wildcat Invitational
The Southern Wells boys’ cross country team finished in fifth place out of 20 teams Saturday morning at the Indiana Wesleyan University Wildcat Invitational.
The leading runner for the Raiders was Potter Garrett in 21st place with a time of 18:43.70. Joshua Bricker finished in 28th with a time of 18:52.60. Rio Horner finished 43rd at 19:39.80. Colter Kirl placed 47th at 19:42.50. The rest of the runner were Andrew Aker in 53rd, Jarin Frauhiger in 61st, Peyton Ellies in 112th, Kane Jenkins in 116th, Nicholas Lozoya in 120th, Miles Garrett in 121st, and Aidan Brewster in 136th.
The next meet for both cross country teams will be at the South Adams Invitational at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept 17.
Bluffton boys’ tennis goes 0-2 at Madison Grant Invitational
The Tigers tennis team went to the Madison Grant Invitational Saturday morning, in which they lost both of their matches.
The first match was against Northwestern, who won 5-0. Bluffton faced the host Madison-Grant in the second match and lost 3-2.
The winners for Bluffton were Keegan Schwartz at No. 1 singles 7-5, 6-3, and the No. 1 doubles team of Drew Pressler and Max Worth 6-4, 6-0.
The Tigers will host Norwell at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Sept 12.
Southern Wells volleyball falls to Winchester 3-0
The Southern Wells volleyball team hosted Winchester Community Saturday afternoon and lost its match in three sets. The loss moves its record now to 4-8.
The scores of the sets were 25-11, 25-12, and 25-7.
The JV team also lost their match in two sets, 25-15, 25-15.
Southern Wells will be on the road to Blackford at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept 12.
