The girls’ golf teams of Norwell and Bluffton opened their 2022 season Tuesday with second- and third-place finishes, respectively, in the Bellmont Girls’ Golf  Invitational. The event was held at the par-71 Cross Creek Golf Course in Decatur.

Bellmont won the event with a score of 382, with Norwell second at 404. Bluffton was third at 444, followed by Adams Central at 489 and Garrett at 494. Jay County also participated, but did not have enough golfers for a team score.

Bellmont had the top two individuals, with Leyna Macke claiming medalist honors with an 86 and Meghan Pettibone second at 90. Norwell had the next three low individual scores, with Emilyn Heaston coming in at 100 and Ellie Gatton and Abigail Blythe tied at 101.

Rounding out Norwell’s roster Tuesday were Hayden Double at 102 and Anna Dodane at  105.

Bluffton’s team was led by Lily King at 102, followed by Kennedy Nash at 106, Emma Schwartz at 112, Tressa Renner at 124, and Averi Petty at 129.
