ACCIDENTS

City:

Tuesday, 9:59 a.m., Williams Street at Wiley Avenue. Parked cars made it hard for Samantha R. White, 24, Bluffton, to see approaching traffic on Wiley as she was southbound on Williams in a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox. She stopped but couldn’t see anything so she pulled forward and the Equinox crashed right angle into an eastbound 2014 Ford Focus driven by Anna L. Holloway, 79, Bluffton. The police officer noted in his report that the number of parked cars near the intersection did indeed make it difficult to see traffic on Wiley. Damage exceeded $5,000.

County:

Wednesday, 1:17 p.m., Ind. 1 at 1200N. Ah Le, 56, Fort Wayne, said, through an interpreter, he was southbound on Ind. 1 and stopped in traffic intersection intending to turn right onto 1200N. James V. Reinig, 60, Ossian, was driving his 1998 Kenworth semi south on Ind. 1 approaching Le’s 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan from behind when he said Le came to an abrupt stop in the middle of the road and activated his left turn signal. To avoid a crash from behind, Reinig swerved around the van on the right just as Le turned the van right instead of left. Damage exceeded $5,000. No one was injured or trapped in the wreckage but because the initial calls placed to 911 were by passerby who could not confirm that, Wells County EMS and Ossian Fire Rescue were dispatched to the scene.
