Friday, 2:59 p.m., Wells County Public Library, 200 W. Washington St. Dialer alarm in the elevator. Officer dispatched. Child set off the alarm.
Friday, 3:04 p.m., Wells County Highway Garage, 1600 W. Washington St. Motion detector alarm. Officer dispatched. No sign of foul play found.
Friday, 3:12 p.m., Premier Flats, verbal altercation between a man and a woman. Officers responded. Woman denied there were any problems.
Friday, 6:16 p.m., Morgan Street at Wiley Avenue. Woman reported several juveniles smoking and cursing, and wouldn’t let her make a turn in her vehicle. Officer responded. Spoke with the juveniles who said the woman ran a stop sign and almost hit them. Officer told the youth to stay out of the street and pay attention to traffic.
Friday, 8:33 p.m., East River Road near the covered bridge. Report of a dachshund running all over the roadway creating a traffic hazard. Officer checked the area but the wiener dog was gone.
Friday, 9:46 p.m., mobile home in the Walnut Hills Estates mobile home park. Two neighbors arguing loudly. Officer responded. Situation calmed. Parties were told to keep to themselves.
Friday, 10:01 p.m., Main Street south of downtown. Children riding bicycles against traffic. Officer located the youth and told them to stay on the trails.
Friday, 10:17 p.m., Pak-A-Sak convenience store, 204 W. Wabash St. Verbal altercation between a man and a woman witnessed by a police officer who calmed the situation and warned the male half for disorderly conduct.
Friday, 11:04 p.m., residence in the 300 block of West Cherry Street. Loud verbal altercation between a man and a woman. Officers responded. Situation calmed.
Saturday, 3:06 a.m., Oak Street at Washington Street. Officer pulled over a vehicle and arrested the driver Rhiannon Michelle Haynes, 40, Bluffton, on charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor, and operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor. Bond set at $1,500.
Saturday, 8:09 p.m., 900 block of North Main Street. Report of fighting and one of the combatants left in a vehicle. Officer located the vehicle southbound on Main Street from Market Street. The person driving was allegedly refusing to pull over. Officers continued to follow the vehicle. It was finally stopped and the driver, Maiquitio Chevez McDaniel, 30, Bluffton, was arrested on charges of resisting law enforcement by use of a motor vehicle, a Level 6 felony; operating a motor vehicle while never having obtained a driver’s license, a Class C misdemeanor; and operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person. Bond set at $7,500.
Saturday, 9:31 p.m., residence in the 300 block of West Miller Street. Sheriff’s deputy served a warrant for arrest on Tasha Nicole Winkler, 37, of that address, on one count of battery, a Class A misdemeanor. Bond set at $1,500.
Sunday, 1:15 a.m., Roush Park, 925 W. Silver St. Couple in a vehicle parked after hours. Sheriff’s deputy advised the couple they need to leave for the night.
Sunday, 8:30 p.m., residence in the 200 block of East Wiley Avenue. Two teenage girls reportedly drew an obscene picture on the front door of a residence. The girls were located by a sheriff’s deputy who informed their guardian of what they had done. They apologized to the man whose door they had defaced and were warned for criminal trespassing.
Sunday, 9:05 p.m., residence in the 600 block of South Bond Street. Handgun stolen.
Sunday, 10:33 p.m., Spring Wayne Apartments, 515 E. Spring St. Altercation between a man and a woman. Officers responded. Parties had separated before they arrived. Both parties warned for disorderly conduct.
Monday, 7:58 a.m., Main Street at Dustman Road. Lumber in the southbound lanes of Main Street creating a traffic hazard..
Monday, 8:12 a.m., Garden Lane. Report of a man walking through the neighborhood knocking on doors and peaking in windows. Officer located the man and spoke with him. He said he was trying to drum up construction business. He was told to get a solicitation permit from the city.
Monday, 8:59 a.m., First Merchants Bank North, 1405 Baker Place. Burglar alarm. Officers responded. Customer set off alarm at the closed bank by pulling on an unsecured door.

Friday, 1:48 p.m., residence on Washington Street in Poneto. Sheriff’s deputies went to a residence to assist workers from the Department of Child Services in serving an emergency court order to take custody of a 2-day-old child from the child’s mother, who allegedly was under the influence of methamphetamine when she gave birth to the child. James Dwayne Manns, 51, Poneto, was charged with battery against a public safety official with a prior conviction for the same or a similar offense, a Level 5 felony, and resisting law enforcement, a Level 6 felony. Bond set at $11,500.
Friday, 7:01 p.m., report of an erratic driver on Ind. 1 at 1050N. Ossian police officer pulled the vehicle over and arrested Yogesh Ranjit Patil, 28, Fort Wayne, on charges of operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalency of .15 percent or more, and operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, both Class A misdemeanors. Bond set at $1,500.
Friday, 11:17 p.m., residence on 700S west of 7900W in Jackson Township. Report of an altercation between a man and a woman. Deputies responded. James DW Morris, 35, of that address, was arrested on one count of domestic battery in the presence of a child less than 16 years old. Bond set at $25,000. Bonded.
Saturday, 12:13 p.m., residence on 1100N east of 100E. Caller reporting a fawn on the front doorstep of the residence. Sheriff’s deputy arrived and the fawn ran away.
Saturday, 2:20 p.m., Ind. 116 at the Norfolk Southern railroad crossing. Older male fell on the tracks and suffered a bloody nose. Wells County EMS responded. The man was cleaned up and a sheriff’s deputy gave him a ride home.

Saturday, 2:23 p.m., Ossian resident reported someone took out a car loan in her name.

Saturday, 4:14 p.m., Main Street at Market Street. Jean J. Drumm, 71, Muncie, was driving a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox south on Main Street when a 2008 Chrysler Town & Country van driven by Robert C. Maidens, 88, Bluffton, drifted into her lane from the adjacent lane. Damage exceeded $1,000.

Saturday, 3 a.m., 300W near 1200S. Jasmine Barton, 18, Montpelier, hit a deer with her 2016 Ford Focus. Damage to the car exceeded $1,000.

Friday, 5:20 p.m., 912 Parkway Drive. Smoke detector alarm called in by an alarm company. Bluffton Fire Department dispatched. No fire. Smoke was from burning food.
Saturday, 11:51 a.m., 1000 block of Clark Avenue. Wires down. Bluffton Fire Department dispatched. Line was not an electrical line but an internet/cable TV line.
Saturday, 5:41 p.m., U.S. 224 at Ind. 1. Small grass fire. Bluffton Fire Department dispatched. Fire under control at 5:56 p.m.
Saturday, 7:11 p.m., apartments at 66 Sunrise Way. Smoke coming from a dumpster. Bluffton Fire Department dispatched. Fire brought under control at 7:20 p.m.
Saturday, U.S. 224 west of Kingsland. Caller reported seeing large amount of black smoke. Ossian Fire Department dispatched. Source of smoke was a bonfire.
