Thursday, 12:38 a.m., Praxis substance abuse recovery, 1529 W. Lancaster St. Report of a male patient being combative. The man had calmed down when officers arrived.
Thursday, 1:14 p.m., 100 block of North Oak Street. Caller reported being harassed by juveniles.
County:
Wednesday, 4:07 p.m., Main Street in Liberty Center. Approximately 20-pound snapping turtle in the middle of the street creating a traffic hazard. Sheriff’s deputy contacted the Indiana Department of Natural Resources which advised to move the turtle off the busy street but keep it nearby.
Thursday, 10:07 a.m., residence on 800E south of 200S. Report of a sick raccoon behind the garage. Sheriff’s deputy responded and contacted the conservation officer who recommended putting the animal down. The deputy did that with his 12 gauge shotgun.
Thursday, 10:15 p.m., report of three loud bangs and power was out in an area east and south of Liberty Center. American Electric Power contacted.
ACCIDENTS
City:
Wednesday, 2:40 p.m., Main Street at Hillcrest Drive. Gary L. Manning, 69, Bluffton, was exiting the parking lot of the Cooper Commerce Center in his 2020 Ram 2500 pickup truck intending to cross Main Street to Hillcrest Drive. Sharon R. Braun, 55, rural Keystone, was driving a 2000 Honda Civic south on Main Street when the two vehicles collided causing more than $2,500 damage.
Wednesday, 2:50 p.m., Wiley Avenue at Williams Street. John N. Hay, 53, Bluffton, was driving south on Williams Street when he he stopped for Wiley then drove his 2003 Toyota Avalon into the path of a 2011 Dodge Ram pickup truck driven by Angela J. Harris, 45, rural Liberty Center. Following the collision, Hay’s vehicle spun around 90 degrees up into the front yard of Anna Couch, 328 W. Wiley Ave. Harris’ pickup truck veered off to the right crashed head-on into a large tree in the Couch front yard. Wells County EMS and Bluffton Fire Rescue were both dispatched to the scene. Harris was taken by EMS to Bluffton Regional Medical Center for treatment. Hay was treated at the scene by medics for shoulder pain and was not transported by ambulance to the hospital. Damage exceeded $2,500.
Thursday, 6:26 a.m., Main Street at Wiley Avenue. A 2012 Jeep Patriot, driven by Justin C. Crouch, 23, Dunkirk, hit a 1994 Mercury Sable, driven by Rickie L. Burkholder, 43, Berne, from behind while both were driving north on Main Street. Damage exceeded $2,500.

Wednesday, 6:20 p.m., Grand Sweet Shop, 953 N. Main St. Report of wires sparking. Bluffton Fire Department dispatched. Firefighters did not see any sparking wires.
Wednesday, 9:44 p.m., 716 Heatherwood Lane, Ossian. Stove accidentally left on and filled house with natural gas. Ossian Fire Department dispatched and vented the house.
Thursday, 7:49 a.m., 3745E-300N. Fire in a woods. Bluffton Fire Department dispatched. Turned out to be a controlled burn.
