Carl L. Bluhm, 85, of Decatur, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2022, at Adams Memorial Hospital. He was born in Decatur Nov. 22, 1936, the son of Ralph V. and Helen M. (Mitchel) Bluhm. On Jan. 26, 1960, he married Jane M. Keys.

He was a 1954 graduate of Adams Central High School and served his country in the U.S. Air Force. 

Carl was the owner and operator of Carl Bluhm Drain, Sewer and Septic for 15 years. He then sold to his daughter and son-in-law and worked another decade for Bluhm & Reber and retired in 2002. 

He was the Adams County dog catcher for three years and was in the 4-H Dog Club. He was a member of the Elk’s Lodge B.P.O.E. 796 in Bluffton. He was an avid card player and loved playing at the Berne Senior Center. 

Carl is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jane M. Bluhm of Decatur; two sons, Randy L. (Jennifer Frischkorn) Bluhm of Fort Wayne and Scott A. (ReJena) Bluhm of Berne; a daughter, Kimberly S. (Karl) Reber of Decatur; a sister, Doris Ann (Tom) Eversten of Omaha, Neb.; seven grandchildren, Holly (Ken) Fernandez-Prada, Cory (Katie) Bluhm, Jacob (Ciera) Bluhm, Christy (Matt) Dunn, Cara (Dylan Long) Bluhm, Ashlee (James) Smith, and Aleesha Reber; great-grandchildren, Braylend, James Jr., Quinton, Olivia, Emily, Rawling, Evie, Ariel, and Nadya. 

Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 3, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Haggard-Sefton-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to his great-grandchildren’s education fund (checks payable to Jane Bluhm).
