Norwell’s softball team dropped a home game to Heritage 9-3 on Friday. 

Norwell (6-5) trailed just 4-3 after four innings, but Heritage began to break away in the fifth. The visiting Patriots put up three runs in that fifth inning and added two more for cushion in the sixth to come away with the win. 

Norwell had seven hits at the plate, with three of them coming off the bat of Jordan Markley. She went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Kirtlynn Lemler added a solo home run. 

Brielle Nunley suffered the loss on the mound. She pitched 3 2/3 innings and allowed six runs (three earned) on seven hits while striking out one and walking two. Madyson Sonnigsen pitched the remaining 2 1/3 innings and allowed two runs on three hits while walking four. 

The Lady Knights will take the field again on Monday in a home game against New Haven.

Norwell’s JV softball team defeated Heritage 16-4 in a five-inning game. 

The Lady Knights lit up the scoreboard for six runs in the second inning. They added five runs each in the fourth and fifth innings to win by the 10-run rule. 

Norwell was not short of hits at the plate, finishing with 23 total as a team. Everyone in the lineup contributed at least one hit. 

Addison Keller and Madison Mashuda each went 4-for-4. Keller hit a triple, drove in a run, and scored twice. Mashuda drove in two runs and scored twice. 

Kaydance Clark went 2-for-4 with a home run and triple, two RBIs, and one run scored. 

Kailey Eccles pitched all five innings on the mound and got the win. 

Eccles allowed four earned runs on six hits while striking out seven and walking two.
