Bluffton-Harrison Elementary School has received a grant to transform its technology classroom into a “design and innovation studio.”

The announcement was made at Monday’s meeting of the Bluffton-Harrison Metropolitan School District’s board of trustees. Assistant Principal Alyssa Moser led the pursuit for the $25,000 grant, Superintendent Brad Yates said.

The grant is from Purdue Indiana Next Generation Manufacturing Competitive Center for the district to buy approved equipment from STEM Education Works in Lafayette.

Yates said the studio will be unveiled at a future grand opening.

“I especially like the idea that it’s centered on STEM and starting that early,” Bruce Holland said before the grant’s acceptance was unanimously approved.

“Congratulations and thank you,” added Board President Julie Thompson. “That’s quite an accomplishment.”

“We are excited,” responded Moser, who was in attendance.
