The Southern Wells Raiders came up short at North Miami on Tuesday, losing to the hosts 67-61 in boys’ basketball action.

The Raiders (3-14) were within striking distance early as they trailed 10-9 after one quarter and 25-19 at halftime.

A 25-point effort in the third quarter by North Miami (7-12) though put it ahead 50-38 going into the fourth quarter.

The Raiders were only able to trim that deficit by 6 points by the end of the fourth quarter. North Miami shot 9-of-16 from the free-throw line to close things out.

Dustin Woodward led Southern Wells’ scoring with 19 points.

Austin Harris followed with 16, and Jenson Nusbaumer and Brandon Kirtley each added 11.

The Raiders return to action this Friday at Adams Central.
