Robert Don “Bob” Young, 73, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, Feb. 7, 2022.
He was born in Fort Wayne April 21, 1948. Bob was raised in Ossian and graduated from Ossian High School. He continued his education at Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne and he met the love of his life, Ellen, during this time. Bob and Ellen shared 47 years of marriage.
He earned his bachelor’s of arts degree in secondary education from IPFW and his master’s of science degree in education from St. Francis University.
Bob worked for the Polk-Lincoln-Johnson School Corporation in Walkerton for seven years. He then moved to Fort Wayne and worked for East Allen County Schools for 24 years. Bob finished his teaching career at Brown Mackie College where he was an English professor for 12 years.
He enjoyed coaching, umpiring, fishing, boating, watching sporting events involving his children and grandchildren, telling jokes, and correcting the grammar of others.
Surviving are his wife, Ellen Marie Young; children, Andria Folsom, Lisa (Andy) Sipe, and Sara (Chad) Noll; grandchildren, Madi, Brice, Sophia, Eli, and Ryder, with Skyler Bobbi due March 3, 2022; a great-granddaughter, Sienna; two brothers-in-law, Larry Eichler and Jim (Kathleen) Werling; a sister-in-law, Lennis Scheiman; and five nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and L. Cathryne Young, and his sister, Joan Eichler.
Viewing is from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, with funeral services immediately following, at the Elzey-Pattterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 W. Mill St. in Ossian.
